Another Bidding Question...

Recommended Posts

We have but are waiting on our sailing(18 days) we are already in the Haven so it doesnt really matter if we get the upgrade or not but it does show sold out on our cruise

Are you saying that NCL has told you that you've successfully won an upgrade, but can't tell you if they will have a cabin available in the category you won the upgrade in? That doesn't seem right at all.

I haven't bid on any of the upgrades but I am currently in a Large Balcony and they are offering every suite on the ship to bid. Thing is Suites say sold out on my sailing as well. I bet they keep a few to get money from people upgrading or from cancellations.

My guess is that the NCL reservation system is not connected to the Upgrade Advantage page that is powered by a 3rd party company called "Plusgrade". I bet the whole thing is a very manual process which would explain why people get cabin assignments at varying dates.

I am confused. You say you got a bid but you are already in the Haven.

Color me confused

I was originally asking if anyone had won a bid in the Haven, that after they bid, says sold out online. I agree w cksv that maybe the reservation system and the upgrade advantage system aren't connected. It's a possibility. I was asking because when you call the upsell department, at least the rude employee that answered when I called, said sold out means sold out and there will be no bids awarded to anyone. Yet, on another thread someone posted that what they bid on was sold out, but then won. Very strange.

Sorry to co nfuse the issue , we bid on what is showing as a sold out cabin, we have not won anything yet , there are still 16 days to our sailing. If it suddenly is not occupied by the original people , I am sure NCL will not let it go unoccupied . There is only 1 class that we can upgrade to.

Thanks for clearing that up. It makes a lot more sense that way. Obviously NCL can and will take bids even on sold out cruises, on the chance that someone cancels or doesn't show.

Unrelated, but we got our "Sorry no upgrade" email today - 2 days before the cruise departure. We're in a Forward Penthouse on the Escape, and had bid on the Haven 2 bedroom and the Owners Suite. Not interested in the Haven Penthouses as they do not have a separate living area. We're fine with what we have, so it's not a big deal for us. NCL should be happy too...it leaves us more money to spend in the casino! ;p
