Rearranging occupants?

We originally got a cabin for 4 of us for a cruise in January. Currently it only has my husband's name and 3 TBA names. A couple of months later, 2 family members decided they could go so we got a room next to the original, putting it in my name and 1 TBA name.

 

Bottom line is, can I leave these bookings as they are (filling in TBA names, of course) and when we get on board switch it around to have 3 people in each room instead of 4 & 2?

Not likely. The only issue is the number of people changing. Some rooms don't have beds for 3. It may not be a problem but you'd also have to get the cabin steward to understand that you want 3 beds made up in each room rather than 4 and 2.

Both rooms can have 4 people, and they are adjoining rooms.

It shouldn't be any problem. Each year I book 3 rooms for my 4 kids, myself and my wife. Only one of the kids is old enough to have a non-adjoining room himself so we have to book the oldest in one, my wife in one, and myself in another.

 

Once on board we just head to guest services and have the room keys switched around to meet our needs. This is one of the reasons that I always get FTTF.

I agree. Just hope the adjoining rooms are serviced by the same steward, and not the boundary between 2 stewards.

And just hope that they don't need the quad cabin that you have 2 people booked into. They can move the 2 people to a double cabin if they need a true quad. Hopefully, it will not be an issue in January if school is in session, but we just had a cruise in January 2017 that had 600 kids onboard. We met a lovely couple who were moved from the cabin they originally booked because there were only 2 of them in a quad. It worked out well for them because they got upgraded to a balcony from an OV.

Then yes, it won't be a problem. Be sure to go to guest services to get an extra key for passenger #3 who ends up in the room originally for 2.

It depends on the room you booked. Some only hold 2 ppl and some holds 4 ppl. I orginally booked 2 in one cabin and 4 in another, but had to call to ensure we had a cabin that could hold 3 or 4 in each in case we decide to move ppl around. You can look on carnivals site with ur cabin number to see the occupancy of ppl it'll hold.

You are able to book TBA? How do you go about doing this? Can you book it that way online? This is new to me and would help us out greatly since our children aren't sure who can cruise with us next summer.

You can switch the cabins around however you want, my family does it all the time. Keep in mind, some cabins only have 2 beds. You will need to look at how many people the cabins sleep to be sure you can all sleep comfortably.

 

My sister and her husband both had casino offers while my husband and I didn't. We booked me and my sister in a cabin and my husband and brother in law in a cabin. Once on board , we will go to guest services to switch 2 of us. Another example is that my nephew is currently booked with my dad, but he will sleep in the cabin with his parents. We did this to avoid my dad paying double occupancy for a solo cabin plus having to pay for a 3 cabin room for my sibling's family.

Before the cruise you can switch names around BUT there must be one name in each room that stays the same throughout the switching. Went though this before. But once on-board you can do whatever you want as long as the rooms have the capacity you are good to go.

Our PVP has often booked us across rooms with other family members to get them past guest discounts to to be able to have our young nieces board with us. It is no trouble at all to go to guest services and get your S&S cards moved to the rooms you want. Everyone changing needs to be present and agree to the change. Guest services gets busy early on the first day for things like this but go really early or wait until later in the day. We had no problems with the room stewards, just let them know how you want the room made up when he stops by to introduce himself.
