ppfqp Posted June 14, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 14, 2017 Returning from Miami on Monday 12/4 from Empress of the Seas. What's the earliest comfortable time for a flight departing Miami?
JohninDC Posted June 14, 2017 #2 Share Posted June 14, 2017 Assuming you are sailing from POM, comfortable = about 11:30 or later.
ppfqp Posted June 14, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted June 14, 2017 Assuming you are sailing from POM, comfortable = about 11:30 or later. Yes, Miami. Is 10:30 doable? Ship arrives 7:00 am. All adults, carry on bags.
SheSailsFL Posted June 15, 2017 #4 Share Posted June 15, 2017 Yes, Miami. Is 10:30 doable? Ship arrives 7:00 am. All adults, carry on bags. I think it is doable. Just make sure you have the right color tags for early departure.
JohninDC Posted June 15, 2017 #5 Share Posted June 15, 2017 For a 1030 flight you need to be at MIA by 9:00 - and 8:30 is better if you've ever seen the TSA lines at MIA. That translates into off the ship, with bags and in a taxi by just after 8:00. Just because the ship arrives at 7:00 does not mean you can get off that early. Doable? Sure. Chance it will not work and you'll miss your flight - yup! Do you want to spend your cruise worried about making your flight home? I don't. Book something closer to noon, enjoy one last breakfast in the MDR, and avoid the stress is my suggestion. Your call.
awhcruiser Posted June 15, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 15, 2017 You could make it if you carry off all your bags and be first off the ship. But personally, I agree that a later flight would be better.
Rare Noxequifans Posted June 15, 2017 #7 Share Posted June 15, 2017 11:30 would be the earliest I would take ..... why worry during your cruise about missing your flight.

eandj Posted June 16, 2017 #9 Share Posted June 16, 2017 I wouldn't book it. Agree that 11:30 would be the earliest I'd book. Years ago it would be easier finding empty seats on the next flight if you should miss the original. With few if any empty seats on planes lately, I figure when in doubt, the decision is easier now. Rare Keith1010 Posted June 16, 2017 #10 Share Posted June 16, 2017 The reality is that 10:30 is possible. But there is no guarantee you will make it. You might if all goes well and you might not but you might not even be off the ship until 8:30 AM to 8:45 AM. Then you not only have to get to the airport but deal with check in and security. And that is an unknown. Me I wouldn't book before 11:30 AM. Keith
