Rare Beamafar Posted July 15, 2017 Author #277 Share Posted July 15, 2017 Hi Bea, binged read your review today to help me recuperate from my Ncl Epic b2b post cruise depression, lol Loved the spa pics, is the thermal area included for YC? Also, have you seen solo's around or should I prepare myself to be the only one! [emoji12] Cheers, Priscila Hi Priscilla ............... lovely to hear from you. :) You were on your NCL B2B when we were on Meraviglia - hope you had as fab a time as we did. We'll be on Magnifica when you're on Meraviglia! Yes, the thermal suite is included! It's a fabulous Spa - though I didn't use it myself. It's not really my thing. Kikki has some fab photos of the area on her thread. I had a few more but I realised my reflection was in most of them so I passed on sharing them here. Everything onboard is so reflective, it's difficult to photo anything without having your image in it! I didn't notice any solos but DH says he saw one person. I don't really take a lot of notice of people - I tend to be so engrossed in my own world sometimes. However, the crew in YC are amazing and will look after you really well. There are 2 barmen in the Top Sail Lounge - one is Jerry and the other is called Tom for fun (assuming you know the cartoon Tom & Jerry?). I can't remember his real name. They are fantastic guys. If you're stuck for company or just want a laugh, sit at the bar and get to know these fellas - they're the best! If Luigi is still m'D when you embark, just let him know that you know the Irish lady who got the cannoli for him and tell him I said he's to look after you. Both him and Davide, the sommelier, were terrific. I can't say enough about the waiters in the restaurant, too. They loved chatting with us during mealtimes. Believe me, you really won't be in need of company with the crew in the Yacht Club. You'll have the deluxe (premium) package included on your trip so, when/if you venture out of the Yacht Club haven, you can still indulge in champagne around the rest of the ship. There's a good included selection in the Champagne bar if you're into it. I see you have Seaview booked, too. I'd love to sail on her but we're booked up for the next 18 months or so. Hope you have a fabulous time on Meraviglia. ;)

I am sure Tom&Jerry will see lots of me around ;p The included champagne is a pleasant surprise and will serve nicely for my birthday celebration, lol I booked Seaview because the YC inside was a bargain, couldn't pass. Although if I continue to book cruises at this rhythm, I'll need to find a second job, ha ha! Have a fabulous time on the Magnifica, 76 days to go for my Meraviglia adventure :*
yra Posted July 16, 2017 #279 Share Posted July 16, 2017 We boarded Meraviglia. There were no lines nowhere at about 1pm. Our butler Sand to will introduce himself later, because we were a bit tired after the long trip (started yesterday evening). Everyone from the staff is so friendly. Fellow passengers seem to be so tired as us ;-) Gesendet von meinem F5321 mit Tapatalk
Rare Beamafar Posted July 16, 2017 Author #280 Share Posted July 16, 2017 Yes, it can be very tiring travelling straight from home to the ship - it's good to get some rest before you start exploring the ship. The staff in Yacht Club are amazing. Please say hi to Luigi, the maitreD, from his Irish friends with the cannoli. Be especially nice to him if you want to have lunch on debarkation day LOL! ;) Hope you have a fabulous cruise! :)

Rare Beamafar Posted July 16, 2017 Author #282 Share Posted July 16, 2017 Hi, please can you tell us where this menu is from, thanks. Sent from my iPad using Forums It's the Yacht Club room service menu - hence no prices as YC is all-inclusive! :)

Luigi has a blog, where he posted a picture of the Cannoli - he promised to give me the address later ;-) Everyone is great in the YC dining room - and the food makes us so happy! Bra_BE2014 Posted July 22, 2017 #288 Share Posted July 22, 2017 After reading about your Cirque de Soleil issues, I canceled my old booking and re-booked again for each show. I'll be taking the printed confirmation with me just in case!
sverigecruiser Posted July 22, 2017 #289 Share Posted July 22, 2017 Beamafar, thanks for all your posts! They made our cruise extra good because we were prepared! I must agree with all positive things you have written about the Yacht Club. We came home around three this morning so I will only make a short comment about our cruise today but more will come! Again, thanks!
Rare Beamafar Posted July 22, 2017 Author #290 Share Posted July 22, 2017 After reading about your Cirque de Soleil issues, I canceled my old booking and re-booked again for each show. I'll be taking the printed confirmation with me just in case! You did right, Priscila! Your original booking may not have gone into the system just like ours didn't. Make sure to book your seats as soon as you embark, too. We held off because we didn't want to miss 'Elegance' nights in the YC restaurant. But no-one knew when the formal nights were going to be on and, by the time we found out, it was too late! Sverige ................ glad that the info helped. :) I'll be following your review with interest.
rjmols Posted July 25, 2017 #291 Share Posted July 25, 2017 Hi Bea - Fantastic review thank you very much - we are thinking about the Royal Suite on the Mergavilia - have never sailed MSC before but after all the talk and prices regarding the Yacht Club over the suites on RCL and NCL I am tempted - which suite were you in? And was that the video of your suite that you posted earlier? And I am jealous of your grand voyage - Can't wait to hear where you are going . Rare Beamafar Posted July 25, 2017 Author #292 Share Posted July 25, 2017 Hi Bea - Fantastic review thank you very much - we are thinking about the Royal Suite on the Mergavilia - have never sailed MSC before but after all the talk and prices regarding the Yacht Club over the suites on RCL and NCL I am tempted - which suite were you in? And was that the video of your suite that you posted earlier? And I am jealous of your grand voyage - Can't wait to hear where you are going . Thank you, RJ! The Royal Suites are very hard to get hold of; as there are only two of them, they get booked out very quickly. Unless you absolutely need the extra space (if there are more than 2 of you) or/and private hot-tub, I'd consider a basic YC balcony cabin - you get all the amenities for a much lower price. We were in a Yacht Club balcony cabin. On Meraviglia they are slightly bigger (wider) than on the Fantasia class ships. We had plenty of room. I posted photos of it at the beginning of the thread. It was on deck 18 so it was very convenient for the restaurant. There are no public toilets on deck 18 so it was handy during mealtimes if we needed the facilities - especially as dinner is a very leisurely affair on MSC ships! Just one flight of stairs down to the Top Sail Lounge and one flight up to the One Pool deck. For our Grand Voyage, we managed to nab a 'square' Yacht Club cabin - there are only 10 on Splendida, and are very much in demand due to the extra free space. They are similar in size to the regular YC balcony cabins on Meraviglia, so the photos will give you some idea. The itinerary for our 28 night Grand Voyage is as follows: Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Muscat - Oman, Colombo - Sri Lanka, Phuket - Thailand, Langkawi, Penang, Port Kelang - Malaysia, Singapore, Phu My - Vietnam, Hong Kong, Shanghai - China and Yokohama - Japan. rjmols Posted July 25, 2017 #294 Share Posted July 25, 2017 Thanks for your quick reply. Really fancied the idea of the hot tub on the balcony :-) however, I can't work out if you actually have to fill it each time you want to use it ?? Rare Beamafar Posted July 25, 2017 Author #296 Share Posted July 25, 2017 Oh and one more question - is the YC restaurant within the actual YC lounge area? Yes ............... it made a huge difference even though I never minded having to walk the length of the Fantasia class ships to the Yacht Club restaurants before. However, I never enjoyed the outside view of almost naked people in rather off-putting, spread-eagled, positions for sunbathing sited right next to where I was supposed to be enjoying fine dining! The YC restaurant is directly above the Top Sail Lounge, right at the front of the ship. Having a table with a forward-facing view is fantastic - especially at sailaway. Re the hot-tub - I can't, for the life of me, understand why anyone would pay such an exorbitant extra for the private use of one when there's one available in the One Pool area that is empty more often than not. On our cruise the hot tub was not empty often. If I shall find things that are better in NCLs Haven compared to the Yacht Club one thing is that they have 2 hot tubs in the courtyard and that was better! I agree with you that it isn't very good to have almost naken people right outside of the window. As for the view from the lounge and from the restaurant on Meraviglia I really agree with you for cruises in the Mediterrean, the view is fantastic. In the Caribbean it might be boring with the forward view from both the restaurant and from the lounge because there is less to see there, mostly water which isn't bad but not as nice as the view in the Mediterrean. I really love the view on Norwegian Epic. Sea view from the restaurant and pool view (with some distance!) from the lounge.
Rare Beamafar Posted July 25, 2017 Author #299 Share Posted July 25, 2017 There are 2 hot-tubs on the One Pool decks of the Fantasia class ships. It's very surprising that they only have 1 on Meraviglia with more YC cabins onboard.
Rare Beamafar Posted July 25, 2017 Author #300 Share Posted July 25, 2017 Your grand voyage looks amazing Yeah ................ I thought so, too, when I saw it first. However, we thought we wouldn't be able to do it next March as we have 2 more cruises booked for this year. We were considering doing a similar repo to China in March of the following year, but it doesn't take in Japan. Then I scored the 30% discount voucher in the casino last month on Meraviglia and decided that "a bird in the hand" etc., so we booked it at a fantastic discount!
