PlumMad Posted November 29, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 29, 2005 We are going to Coco Cay in March on the Radiance. I heard if it is rough seas they are not able to tender us there. Would we go to another island or have another sea day? We are only going to St. Thomas and St. Martin with 3 sea days already. It would be fun to see another island. wrp96 Posted November 29, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 29, 2005 Usually if you miss CocoCay, you just have another sea day. Occasionally ships that miss CocoCay go to Nassau but I wouldn't count on it.
PlumMad Posted November 29, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted November 29, 2005 Thanks for the quick reply. Wouldn't four seas days get kind of old quick? I have 2 teens that will be on this ship with us. Do a lot of ships miss the tender in March?
Leafpeeper Posted November 29, 2005 #4 Share Posted November 29, 2005 We went in April and had no problems with rough seas. You just never know. Our cruise went to Key West, Nassau, and CocoCay without any sea days. I guess we would have enjoyed it if we had a sea day but not as much as we enjoyed CocoCay. cruisinkeri Posted November 29, 2005 #5 Share Posted November 29, 2005 Last January we had to miss CocoCay because of rough seas and we went to San Juan for 4 or 5 hours. Not our favorite, you can see the fort or shop or drink!
PlumMad Posted November 29, 2005 Author #6 Share Posted November 29, 2005 Can you tell that I am really excited to go to CocoCay? I already reserved 2 JetSkis. I love beach days. I will cross my fingers that we make it there!
larasmom Posted November 29, 2005 #7 Share Posted November 29, 2005 what happens if you are only on a 3 day cruise that goes from miami to cococay and nassau then back to miami do they skip cococay and stay in nassau an extra day?
cruisegirl1 Posted November 29, 2005 #8 Share Posted November 29, 2005 We’ve been on several 3 day cruises and if the ship can’t tender into Coco Cay – you generally get a day at sea. We’ve made it to Coco Cay 4 out of 6 cruises I prefer Coco Cay but wil gladly take a sea day over a day of work! Marci
kc320 Posted November 29, 2005 #9 Share Posted November 29, 2005 We were on a 3 day Sov. in December a couple years ago & missed Coco Cay due to bad weather conditions. The Capt. then announced we also had a medical emergency onboard so we were headed for Freeport. He wasn't sure whether we would be allowed to spend anytime docked there after the person with the emergency was taken off, but we ended up with about 5 hours to spend there. I think normally though on the short cruises if you miss Coco Cay you just have the extra Sea Day.
Rare TPKeller Posted November 29, 2005 #10 Share Posted November 29, 2005 On our Grandeur cruise, we were supposed to go to Cococay, then Key West, then Cozumel. Cozumel was out, so they took away Key West and added Grand Cayman. They needed the extra time to get all the way down there. Then we couldn't stop at Cococay, so they added Key West back in, but a day early. I don't think this is a feasible substitute on an Eastern itinerary. negc Posted November 29, 2005 #11 Share Posted November 29, 2005 Thanks for the quick reply. Wouldn't four seas days get kind of old quick? It depends on the individual. We happen to love sea days and some of our favorite cruises have been transatlantics with five sea days in a row. On sea days there are usually plenty of activities scheduled to fill the time and in good weather, the pools are very popular. In the event you can't get into Coco Cay, you may go to Nassau or Freeport or have another day at sea. It will depend a lot on your itinerary and whether or not there is a nearby port that can accommodate you on that particular day. It took us about four different cruises before we finally were able to get to Coco Cay, but we loved every one of those cruises regardless.
