groovechick Posted July 17, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 17, 2017 A friend is cruising for the first time ever, on Adonia, in a couple of weeks, calling at Bilbao, Bordeaux (overnight) and Guernsey. I have given her some advice but can't help re Adonia as I've never cruised on her, nor on an adult-only ship. I've directed her to this website, but do OPs have any special tips about the ship or advice about the ports I can pass on to her? Thanks
jeanlyon Posted July 17, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 17, 2017 I love Adonia and the last time we went up the river to Bordeaux on her, it was wonderful. Right in the heart of the city. Hop on bus if they want. Easy to explore.

groovechick Posted July 18, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted July 18, 2017 Thank you Les. I'd already advised her that the best thing was to read the info on P&O's website, then have a look here for "real life" info. Because she knows I've cruised a few times she was hoping I would be able to give her chapter and verse/insider tips, but I can't because I've never sailed on Adonia or been to her ports of call, apart from Guernsey on a land holiday. Cruise Puss Posted July 18, 2017 #6 Share Posted July 18, 2017 Adonia is a wonderful little ship! She has no Theatre or Casino - both of which you probably already know. She doesn't have Freedom Dining as she only has one MDR. She now only has one select dining venue - Ocean Grill - as Sorrento has been changed into The Glass House. She doesn't have a wrap around prom deck, but there are two areas of deck either side of where Andersons Bar is. The Crow's Nest is gorgeous, as is Andersons Bar. We've been on her twice, and are about to go on her again on the 4th August. She's got a different atmosphere to the other ships as she's so small. We found it very relaxed and friendly, and the staff seemed very happy. I'm sure you're friend will enjoy her. [emoji4] Sent from my Sony Z1 Compact. groovechick Posted July 18, 2017 Author #7 Share Posted July 18, 2017 Thank you Cruise Puss. She has no idea what to expect and is a little nervous. She's quite particular, but her husband is very easy going. I hope they will enjoy it, as we've extolled the delights of cruising to them for some years now!
