Status match discount after booking?

Thanks Aronde ...& wow that was great price. Worth remembering for the future ;) ...MSC was great today, approving our Status Match application within 4 hrs and when I called after we got it, the lady from MSC said that the 5% has automatically been applied on approval and my TA will get the new invoice to forward to me.

 

My TA is my niece so she will chase it up if she doesn't get the updated invoice by the morning :)

Yes quite a great price - that amount of money I'd be lucky to get us a tiny quad share on one of our local P&O ships and I'd still have to pay for drinks and a massage!

I status matched when I decided to upgrade from a oceanview to balcony. They had no problems doing it then. Saved me a bunch on the balcony. Also check to see if it's one of their select voyages where you can get 10% off and $50 onboard credit. You have to ask them for it.

I hadn't heard anything from my status match request I submitted two months ago and called the day before yesterday. I had to wait about five to 10 minutes for a representative but she was quick and efficient and I was matched almost immediately. She asked for my upcoming reservation number. Don't know if she was able to find my request of how I was matching. I mentioned my other statuses. Got an email and was told I needed to reprint my etickets. Very painless. Now I have black status with MSC.

Zombie thread - but relevant.  Getting the 5% applied retroactively worked for me.  Booked a week ago, applied for the status match.  MSC status match came back as silver today (was Carnival gold). Called the TA, who called MSC.  A 5% refund will be issued. Sweet!

Thank you for bringing this thread back!  I status matched to Gold for my first MSC cruise and wonder if I can get the discount.  I ask because the cruise was 'comped' by a casino, but then we upgraded two rooms.  Does anyone know if 'comped' cruises are eligible for the 5% discount?

Call and ask.  All they can do is say no.

Be sure to check the Voyages Select cruises in the voyagers club area of the website.  Those cruise itineraries  give you 5% plus 15%.  I was matched to silver using Hyatt status and then my ta called and got me 20% off by booking already in the system.

I applied for a status match last week.  I am already booked on a cruise in Oct.  I will wait for a week and call them if I don't get an email.  Thanks for all the information.
