ski_mom Posted July 28, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 28, 2017 We usually get off the ship and either taxi to beach or take tour and then end day at beach. I can't find much about how long or how much an island tour here would be. Any idea on time and or costs? Thanks! Rare crewsweeper Posted July 28, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 28, 2017 Ex a ship excursion, any island tour will most likely be as long as you want it to be. Taxi drivers will do this at very reasonable prices. Negotiable. There's not a lot of time consuming places on the island, outside of the beaches and restaurants. John Glen Capsule by the airport (2 minutes), salt works (maybe 15 minutes if guide explaining things), lighthouse (15 minutes), and Cockburntown's main waterfront drive with some shops and places to eat. We've rented golf carts several times and even with lunch and a short stay at either Pillory Beach or at John's Ocean view beach in Cockburn town, we were only out 3 hours or so. teknoge3k Posted July 30, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 30, 2017 As crewsweeper said, it's however long you want it to be.We always rent a golf cart in Grand Turk and spend the day around the island ourselves. You can explore the entire island fairly quickly, it's a small island. Something like 7 miles by 2 miles or something like that.
Rare Keith1010 Posted July 31, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 31, 2017 If you walk over tot the parking lot there will be various drivers there and you can negotiate to take a tour around the island and stop where and when you would like. We have done that and three hours was sufficient and the cost was around $75.00 Keith
ski_mom Posted August 1, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted August 1, 2017 Thank you all. We ended up walking to the taxis and getting a driver that took our group and 4 others around the island. It was probably about 1.5 hours. After that, we walked down to Jack's Shack and enjoyed the beach. It was one of our kids' favorite all time beaches. So nice not to have to worry about transportation back to the boat after the day spent in the water.
