NWACruiser Posted September 3, 2017 Author #126 Share Posted September 3, 2017 Creek Street is built over Ketchikan Creek, because it was easier to do than blast out the rock walls. It was the red-light district back in the mid 20’s. During Prohibition, bootleggers would wait until high tide at night to deliver the goods. Many places had trap doors so they could help with being discrete. The red-light district was shut down in 1954.

NWACruiser Posted September 3, 2017 Author #130 Share Posted September 3, 2017 Married Man’s Trail Married Man’s Trail was a path used by men to be discreet while heading down to the red-light district. It was used as an escape route if one of the businesses was raided.

NWACruiser Posted September 3, 2017 Author #134 Share Posted September 3, 2017 Oceania Regatta I met up with SIL and DW. SIL had a few more things to do, so DW and I headed back to the ship to grab lunch in the Main Dining Room. After lunch, the Carnival Legend departed for Victoria, BC. DW and I unwound for a bit. It was the last formal night of the cruise.

NWACruiser Posted September 3, 2017 Author #137 Share Posted September 3, 2017 Agnes and I had our formal dance at dinner. Then DW and I changed into more comfortable clothing to hit the ship’s last evening at sea. Since Victoria is an evening port, most of the live entertainment’s last night is today. DW and I decided to make tonight a party night, since we did not have to wake up early for a port. I stopped at the piano bar for a short time to say goodbye to the gang there. The piano bar entertainer was much better than the one we had on the back-to-back cruise on the Dream. I met DW at the casino. We went to the Firebird Lounge to see the comedy shows. The first comedian was good. The second one was the same one we saw the night before, and we both agreed his humor is not what we think is funny. We called it a night afterward. NWACruiser Posted September 3, 2017 Author #138 Share Posted September 3, 2017 A Day at Sea and an Evening in Victoria, BC Today was a combination of day at sea and a port at night. Due to the Jones Passenger Act, the Carnival Legend must stop at a foreign port, or be fined $300 per passenger. Victoria is the designated foreign port for this route. Since the distance from Ketchikan to Victoria is over a day’s cruise, we would reach Victoria in the evening. We headed down to the main dining room for brunch. When we got back, we had another visitor. After brunch, it was packing day. It was the last time I had to walk around the ship for photos. I walked up to Serenity to see if there were any whales spouting. I ran into some ladies we had lunch with a few days ago. They were on a girls-only cruise. NWACruiser Posted September 3, 2017 Author #147 Share Posted September 3, 2017 Remember the VIP badge I had. We had to be at the Piano Bar for a VIP Party for the participants in the show. We got to meet the cast and ask questions. We learned a lot about what the performers lives were like on ship.
NWACruiser Posted September 3, 2017 Author #148 Share Posted September 3, 2017 After we posed for a group photo. Dani was the unfortunate performer to have me as her partner. After the party, we headed back to the cabin to continue packing. We had to have all luggage placed outside the cabin before midnight. Since we were going to be in port during the evening, this made it a little more complicated. Guisti, our Cabin Steward
