TakingFlight Posted August 24, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 24, 2017 We're sailing on the Star on 9/2 and as luck would have it one of the (arguably) most important college football games of the season is that night (Alabama vs. Florida St.). Will there be a lounge on board where we can watch the game? Will we be able to see it on TV in the cabin? Cruising newbies here so not familiar with the options. fishywood Posted August 24, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 24, 2017 Your stateroom TV will likely have the international feed of ESPN so if that game is the one that feed chooses (from all the available programming on ABC/ESPN at that hour) you could have it there. The game starts at 5 PM local time on embarkation day which is an odd time for a sporting event to be featured in one of the lounges or on MUTS. You can try the Casino Bar or Shooter's Bar (if it is open) as they have multiple TVs often showing whatever sports programming the ship purchases from the satellite provider--which is a lot of soccer and cricket for the crew's benefit. Thrak Posted August 24, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 24, 2017 I agree that Shooter's may be your best chance. Of course if it is open it will be full of smoke...
TakingFlight Posted August 24, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted August 24, 2017 Thanks for the speedy replies. I'll keep my fingers crossed for ESPN. Couldn't handle the smoke in Shooters.
Tucker in Texas Posted August 24, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 24, 2017 If you are on the cruise to Hawaii which I am on, it leaves San Pedro on October 25 returning November 9. November 2 we should be in Maui/Lahaina. With a six hour time differential between EST and Hawaii (might be an hour "off" because Hawaii doesn't do DST), the game would be starting at 11:00 a.m. Hawaiian time. Therefore, if it is not being shown on the ship, you have a shot at it being shown somewhere in town.
