xray121995 Posted September 10, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 10, 2017 Just wondering if CAS customers have the same chance with Upgrade Advantage because we are comped the room and pay less than others? Anybody have any experience with this?

17cruisesnsl Posted September 10, 2017 #3 Share Posted September 10, 2017 Yes we had upgraded to the Haven (H4) and still received a bid offer. We didn't bid and unfortunately a few weeks later had to cancel the cruise due to illness ( yes we had travel insurance).
garycarla Posted September 10, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 10, 2017 I have seen some posts in the long thread about folks with CAS getting upgrade offers. I know I have read posts from at least one person that bid and won.. maybe a few others. Pretty sure they do not care what you have already spent for the room. They just want to get as much money as possible for the "new" cabin.
AndyCapn Posted September 10, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 10, 2017 Yes, we're 77 days out from our CAS-comped cruise and got the offer to bid. Granted, we had already paid to upgrade to a higher category, but the CAS agent did say specifically at the time we booked that there were no restrictions on CAS guests from the upgrade advantage program. garycarla Posted September 11, 2017 #8 Share Posted September 11, 2017 Is the bid from your original comped category or the upgraded category? Thx. I surely do not know for sure, but it would make sense it would be from the "current" cabin they are in. The original comped cabin is history. Just the same as if somebody booked an inside, and paid full price (nothing to do with CAS). Then two weeks later they PAID to move to a balcony. Any upgrade would be from the balcony, going up. Mikkar Posted September 11, 2017 #9 Share Posted September 11, 2017 We have a CAS comped Mini Suite for our Oct. 15th cruise and have received an offer to upgrade to the Haven.
dmpuszcz Posted September 21, 2017 #10 Share Posted September 21, 2017 We had an inside room comped and paid for the upgrade to BA. Now we got the email to bid on mini-suite or about 5 of the Haven categories. What I really wanted was the chance to bid on the spa rooms but we didn't receive any options to bid on the spa rooms. When we upgraded to the BA they said it was a flat rate of $350 per person. When I checked on prices to upgrade from the BA to the Spa balcony they said it was the difference between the two cabins. Hopefully, the price for the spa balcony will come down to the price of the BA.
momoftwinteens Posted September 22, 2017 #11 Share Posted September 22, 2017 We had a CAS comped inside cabin on our cruise on the Breakaway on October 1. We received an email to bid for an upgrade and bid $225 per person for a balcony. Our bid was accepted and we are now in a midship BB balcony on deck 9 in a perfect location. AndyCapn Posted September 22, 2017 #12 Share Posted September 22, 2017 My wife and I combined our certificates for inside cabins from Caesars for an oceanview, then paid for the upgrade to a 2-bedroom suite when my parents decided they wanted to join us. We got the email to bid on an upgrade, the cheapest being $600 pp for the 2-bedroom Haven. I showed a video of the Haven pool deck to my mom and she decided to bid on it. Out of curiosity, I called CAS to ask how much an upgrade would cost. They quoted just under $1000 (cheaper than bidding) and I called my mom to tell her. She decided to call that night and they sold her the upgrade for $80. This was about 10 weeks out from the cruise, and only one of the eight Haven Family Villas had been booked, so that's likely why it was so cheap (there had also been a price drop earlier that week). As always: It never hurts to ask!

As always: It never hurts to ask! Andy, CAS offered us a comp for a balcony category for our Epic cruise in December of this year. I upgraded from the balcony category to a 2 bedroom villa (H4). 3 days ago I received the 'upgrade advantage' email offer to upgrade from the H4 to an H2 ( Deluxe Owners Suite). The minimum allowable bid was $750.00 per person ($1500.00) total. I did not bid. On a whim, I called CAS and spoke with a representative and explained that if I went online right now and booked an H4, an upgrade offer to an H2 pops up for $50.00 a person per day ( $700.00) total. She offered me the upgrade for $700.00. That was a no brainer. No bidding and having to wait and see if the bid is accepted. My wife isn't a CC member, so she and her parents (our other guests) are in for a nice surprise ! So my advice for anyone that booked through a CAS comp offer is to not bid through the advantage program, but call your CAS representative first and see if they can 'upgrade' you for a better price. This method may not work on all sailings, as cabin availability may weigh heavily in regards to what CAS can do. I feel very lucky, as I got the last H2 (there are only 8 on the Epic). Of, and I did NOT lose any of the perks or the OBC from my original booking in December of 2016. Enjoy your cruise ! Regards, Vinegarjoe
againin13 Posted September 23, 2017 #14 Share Posted September 23, 2017 Yes! We have a mini suite comped trough CAS for 12/2 & 12/9 b2b ,received an email from NCL for bidding on 3Haven categories. I called CAS today and was told that nothing would change my comped cabin . I could bid and if excepted I would only have to pay whatever the bid was . We received an email for each leg. We're very happy with what we have. I'm afraid if we got into the Haven it would be difficult to go back. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

luvcruzing Posted September 23, 2017 #16 Share Posted September 23, 2017 Why would pay anything if the excepted you bid? I mean I understand if they approved it and accepted it. Pugzila1022 Posted September 23, 2017 #17 Share Posted September 23, 2017 Just wondering if CAS customers have the same chance with Upgrade Advantage because we are comped the room and pay less than others? Anybody have any experience with this? I booked an Aft (H6) Penthouse on Breakaway for my July 9 cruise. I was comped the value of a mini-suite and paid the difference for the upgrade. I then received the email giving me the option of bidding for an upgrade to an owners suite or the deluxe owners suite. I bid, but didn't get accepted....I believe because the cabins sold out. For my December 15 cruise, I booked into an H5 several months ago...again paying the difference between comp mini-suite and the H5 cost. Earlier this week I called CAS to check to see how much it would cost to upgrade to an Owners Suite (not through bid process). After a few minutes the rep came back and told me they could upgrade me at no additional cost. Love the CAS program!

Regards, Vinegarjoe I've been upgraded through the advantage program from a CAS comped minisuite on the Escape to the Aft 2 room Penthouse. I've also did upsell twice to Haven Penthouse on Epic and 3 bedroom garden villa Dawn. I have called CAS as I currently have a forward non-Haven Penthouse comped and bid on a 2 bedroom Haven Penthouse min bid is 1200 totalI called and to upgrade would be 2400 not worth it at all. Not sure the 1200 is even worth it on the Pearl 9 day Sent from my iPad using Forums

Not sure what "land based" casino comp you have. Most of them convert to CAS when booking. If the land casino actually made the payments, then it might be different. ja2nowak Posted September 26, 2017 #21 Share Posted September 26, 2017 I'm on the Epic as well on December 9th and was comped a lowly inside via their mailer vs. my next 2 cruises being comped at oceanview at least. The cost to upgrade to a balcony through CAS was an additional $700 for two people. My buddy and I decided to gamble a little and did the bid for $150 apiece through the upgrade advantage. It's only a 1 week cruise and if it works I've saved a few hundred of the upgrade cost if not, well, maybe I'll be able to win big with the extra money lol. I'll try calling CAS again as we get closer to the sail date and see if they can help out.

I called CAS when I saw this and that the price for the H4 had dropped to about what my comp was worth for the original SE that was comped. Was able to upgrade to H4 for 9 day Pearl 11/10/17 for 100 plus gratuities/tax on perks (they were free when we originally booked. OBC went from 200 to 600 so total cost SE nonhaven suite to H4 Haven 2 bedroom villa $14. I owe you a drink!!! Needless to say I cancelled my Advantage upgrade bid of 1200 for it. Pappion Posted October 4, 2017 #23 Share Posted October 4, 2017 I had a land based comp from Caesars last year and upgraded to a balcony. We then bid on the Haven Spa Suite and won our bid (paying $500) and loved it. This year used another (land based casino) Caesars certificate and asked how much to upgrade from the comped inside to a balcony, booked that. Then I got curious and called back a few weeks later to ask how much to book the Haven Spa Suite again, and it was less than the cost of what I could minimum bid for it, so we booked it. I'm still keeping an eye on pricing, as it would be nice to stay in the haven courtyard, but I didn't find it was worth an additional $500 for the week. Plus the spa access will be nice, I've heard Epic has a great spa.
