What RCI Ship is Dry Docked at Montoir, France?

Recommended Posts

When we sailed into our berth in Montoir, France on September 11th on our freighter, the Rickmers Jakarta, we saw what appeared to be an Oasis-class RCI ship undergoing a pretty extensive drydock or refitting.

We positively ID's the ship by it's distinctive size, shape and the crown & anchor logo on the twin smokestacks. The entire ship was primed in battleship-gray and there were cranes and lots of work going on. The balcony staterooms were boarded up.

On the stern of the ship, the raised ship name letters were all gone except for an 'R'.

Could it have been the Allure?

Montoir is the same place as St Nazaire, so you are correct as usual bob, it will be Symphony of the Seas.

I still don't understand, because I thought Symphony had been floated out a while ago, and should not be in dry dock.

Yes, Symphony is in the water. What may have looked like gray paint might have been the anti-overspray/fall protection netting they put up on the outside of the ship. St. Nazaire is subject to large tides, around 4-6 meters, "Bassin C" where the Symphony is, is closed off, even though flooded, to keep the ship from rising and falling with the tide.
