Sunshine Secrets

We are sailing on the Sunshine December 17 - 23 of this year (2017). I'm looking for any secrets or tips. For instance:

Locations of secret decks

RUMOR - free post cards from someplace

RUMOR - free cork screw from room service

RUMOR - free playing cards from guest services or some place

Any other tips, secrets, freebies, or maybe things that are always available, but you have to know to ask for them?

We always bring twist off top wine to avoid the corkage fee...I dunno about a free cork screw but we did find out that if you bring a bottle of wine to one of the restaurants they will charge you I think $15 (even if it is twist off) however if you bring it in and its already poured into a glass theres nothing they can do about it. Not sure if this is a secret but I never hear too many ppl talk about this...try the taste bar! Its on deck 5 just past the casino and its only out during lunch but the cool thing about it is that they have out foods that will be a preview for that nights dinner plus they have the best salad bar on board by far...AND its never really crowded during lunch so its a good alternative to the crowded lido deck lunch places.

Secret Deck? Yes deck 7 all the way to the front odd number side there is a brown door open it and open one more door and your there and it leads down to secret deck 6,

We choose cabins near the front just for this reason. Heading for the Sunshine on Dec. 1st and we are two cabins aft of the door you mentioned!

You can get a cork screw from your room Steward (just ask). Decks of cards you can ask for at the customer desk. They used to have postcards years ago, but I'm not sure they have the anymore. You can also ask at the casino to have your sail and sign card punched and usually they have free lanyards to put them on.

the havana area just behind lido deck. they also have samples of cuban foods throughout parts of the day. Usually not filled until near the end of the cruise when everyone starts using this. Its a great atmosphere away from the lido crowd.

We ate all lunch meals back there.

Re old post above from last September.....matymil talks about Taste Bar on deck 5 at noon time having previews of that evenings dinner choices. Does anyone (who has sailed recently) know if this is still true ?

Taste bar is samples from the specialty restaurants - like a meatball from Cucina.

Sunshine is a bit different from other ships - so I suggest that you walk all the main decks from front to back when you explore the ships. You already know about the forward deck (it's windy FYI).

I don't really have any secrets for Sunshine, other than the fact that Havana bar does have Cuban breakfast pastries in the morning on the left side of the bar and at lunch, it will be mini cuban sandwiches and some other nibbles.

Do not be fooled that eating the free lunch at Cucinia or Jiji's is the way to cheat the system and try the same food of these for fee venues at night. It is not. Cucina at lunch is basically a pasta bar and Jiji's mongolian wok. At night, Cucina offers much more upscale dishes (menu can be found on line) and is more food than you can eat. Jiji's is outstanding and at dinner is a sampling of food offerings from Asia; it is served family style so based upon the number of guests, you are told how many appetizers, entrees, sides and desserts you can select. It is worth every penny of the up charge as we haven't found anything quite like it on land.

Decks in front are not a secret, Get a 4j room and you can see them. Dont forget to close your blinds at night because you can be seen at night not during the day. Know if you go on that deck it is usually windy as it is on the front of the boat. Good luck on the Sunshine it was really bad in Nov.
