Binky1968 Posted September 26, 2017 #27 Share Posted September 26, 2017 Exactly! To the original poster if you tip $1 extra per drink they will remember you and give you great pours and fast service. 25 year bartender here :) Money is universal everyone everywhere loves it! Right! Bartender Karma! What goes around comes around😀
simmingdenise Posted September 26, 2017 #28 Share Posted September 26, 2017 I always tip extra for each drink. For most days I'm drinking more than the cost of Cheers so it seems fair. The servers and bartenders remember who treats and tips them well
aheverly Posted September 26, 2017 #29 Share Posted September 26, 2017 Yes normally just cash at end...pool deck and casino bars. Pellaz Posted September 26, 2017 #30 Share Posted September 26, 2017 Strewth as if 15% isn't already excessive. Let's look at it a $10 drink that's $1.50, those who say they tip $1 a drink extra are now tipping 25%. Madness. Yep, I'm completely insane. Crazy, Over the rainbow, I am crazy Bars in the window..... Imagine...someone who willingly tips a buck extra on Cheers drink receipts, and fifty cents extra on the receipt for a "free" soda if the bartender is pleasant, since it's a non-rev transaction for him/her. Yep, I'm totally bonkers...but I've gotten wonderful service that way. Frankly, if I can't rationalize or "afford" a buck extra here and there to insure promptness, I have NO business whatsoever going on a cruise. cruise_everywhere Posted September 26, 2017 #31 Share Posted September 26, 2017 Most of the time... I'll admit the one-stops I do in passing at a bar I don't frequent I'll just sign off. At the Alchemy where I spend most of the time (when they are open), they know me, they know my name and my folio number so I don't have to sign a receipt with every drink, they just give me a stack at the end of the night to do. Yes in cash to them directly each night. At the Blue Iguana usually at least a dollar or so extra but not in cash since I'm usually in the pool. Dearabby_84 Posted September 26, 2017 #32 Share Posted September 26, 2017 We tipped $1 for every order (2 drinks, me and DH) while using our Cheers package and we have no complaints about the service, our service was quick and often checking in, we received really good pours and were happy with the service! I did have people at the bar comment to me that since I had cheers I had already paid a gratuity the 15% at purchase, so I shouldn't be tipping more --- I just smiled, thanked them for their thoughts and introduced myself and kept on tipping :) If the service was lacking I would absolutely not tip extra though! UKWildcatCruiser Posted September 26, 2017 #33 Share Posted September 26, 2017 Carnival will raise cheers to 70 a day if they know you're happy to splash the cash. Look at massive price hike this week on Princess... I will tip additional cash from time to time, definitely not on every order. When you find a good bartender you will know. Then I won't buy Cheers! and the issue is moot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
cheermomof2girls Posted September 26, 2017 #34 Share Posted September 26, 2017 We have always had cheers, but always tip additional. I tip $1 extra if it's just standard service and more if it was great. Last night, we go back and give additional to our favorite servers. I dont feel like I'm bribing for good service, just showing appreciation. With cheers, there is not much gratuity added on, and it's divided, so they aren't getting much, so I add the additional $1. We have always had great service. Some bars/servers better than others, and those are simply the ones we frequent most often.

I also always have the Cheers program. Leaving my madness aside for a moment ;), the above math caculation is flawed if, for example, you are on drink 13 for the day using the Cheers program. Gamecock_Cruiser Posted September 26, 2017 #36 Share Posted September 26, 2017 With cheers, we did... and the extra $1 made for excellent service! We would walk up to a crowded bar, our bartender would had us our drinks back and take our card while everyone else was still waiting. Some were mad, but I didn't care! CHEERS! angiegal Posted September 26, 2017 #37 Share Posted September 26, 2017 My first few cruises I didn't because I didn't even realize they could accept cash. I remember how bad I thought service was! Once I learned the power of a few dollar bills, service got much faster and more personal. For servers, I almost always tip an extra $1 because they have to find me and not spill my drink in the theater or by the pool. Bartenders, it depends. At Alchemy where they make me a special drink I tip extra. When any bartender makes my kiddo a Shirley Temple with some flair, a nice tip and a mention on the comment card! JLee1973 Posted September 27, 2017 #38 Share Posted September 27, 2017 I tip extra and have never had an issue getting a drink. They are often coming back by prior to finishing the one they just brought. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

jamscckmc Posted September 27, 2017 #40 Share Posted September 27, 2017 I bring lots of $1 bills and give one with each drink or round of drinks. If you give the extra tip in cash they can keep it. If you add it to the check it's pooled.

dverzic Posted September 27, 2017 #42 Share Posted September 27, 2017 It really depends on the server. I tend to tip better if the server is engaging and seems to really care, (even if they don't.) [emoji2] Sent from my iPad using Forums
ray98 Posted September 27, 2017 #43 Share Posted September 27, 2017 I normally do for a server who brings me the drinks. I usually go with the included tip for the bartenders unless they go out of their way for us.

tandemcruzr Posted September 27, 2017 #45 Share Posted September 27, 2017 I answered NO because sometimes we do and sometimes we don't. If we find a bartender or server that is efficient and friendly, we do. If not, we don't.
PAPERBKWRITER Posted September 27, 2017 #46 Share Posted September 27, 2017 I generally would tip a dollar more per drink, sometimes if I go to a certain bar tender a lot or sit around a certain bar a lot I give him/her a $20 under the table too. Yes, if the service is fast AND always when the drinks are complimentary.
summersigh Posted September 27, 2017 #47 Share Posted September 27, 2017 We don't get the Cheers Program. When we order a drink there's a 15% tip added in to our charge so we don't tip extra cash. That being said ... we often have a favorite drink server we see nightly (we're creatures of habit) who goes above and beyond just delivering a drink. We slip those staff members a $20 at the end of the cruise - not as a bribe but as a thank you.:D:wine-glass::whiskey-glass:
Mallutts Posted September 27, 2017 #48 Share Posted September 27, 2017 If I went out to dinner and for drinks at a bar I would tip 20%, so I usually throw in another dollar or two on top of the 15%.

You are no doubt recognized more if you tip. To me .... **Bribe = cash given before service to try to ensure good future service **Gratuity = Tipping when services are rendered or after rendering **Tipping some extra cash at the end IS a gratuity for services that were rendered over the course of the cruise.
Bookworm1985 Posted September 27, 2017 #50 Share Posted September 27, 2017 I mostly drink wine or beer. If I get that, no I don't. if I get a specialty drink that takes considerably more time to prepare then yes I do.
