What's "wow!" about wanting the privacy one pays for?

1. My comment was about directness/ harsh way FBW comments sounded regarding their friends.

2. I believe they understood that because she responded that their friend had their own exclusive area, so there were no hard feelings on either side.

3. Stop trying to start trouble.

Like many of the other passengers who book Havana Category staterooms for the exclusivity of the Havana area I say if one wants to use the Havana area then book a Havana Category stateroom.

The Havana area is only exclusive until 1900. After that time, anyone can use the facilities.

Harshness? I didn’t think so at all. Just stating the way it was.

Even if they wouldn’t have been in FH, it would have been the exact same. I let them know ahead of time that they wouldn’t be able to come back with us unless they wanted a Havana Cabin. They didn’t want to spend the extra cash so they didn’t get to go in Havana. Plain and simple.

I get it. It was just funny combined together.

Looking at the deck plans for the horizon, all of the aft facing balcony's are all HA cabins??? Or am I reading this wrong.

Seems unfair that one can not cruise facing aft with a child under 12.

Thats probably correct...Horizon increased capacity to 175 for Havana area. Vista capacity is 130. I believe only deck 6 and 7 Aft facing are designated as Havana cabins on Vista

Thanks. Not to hijack OP but where did you find the counts? I’m interested in the Havana club stats.

I cruised on Vista this past November and stayed in a Havana cabin on deck 5..... and when reading about the Horizon, it was mentioned more cabins would be designated Havana on the Horizon when the ship went into service. I do not have the exact number of cabins...but I am sure you could count them from the cabin category on each floor AFT section

I did find the following information from another post....Hopes this helps

On decks 8 & 9, the two corner aft wraps as well as the middle 6 aft balconies on each deck will now have Havana area access and designation on the Horizon unlike their corresponding counterparts on the Vista. This will result in a total of 16 additional cabinshaving access to the Havana area.

Down on deck two, there are 10 aft facing balconies and two rear corner OV cabins that are all part of the Family Harbour Section that welcomes all of those rugrats 11 and under that can't turn the Havana area hot tubs into kid soup. At least not until 7:00 PM each evening after I am done with happy hour and sitting down for dinner. ;)

Your friends will not be allowed with you at the pool during the day. We had the same scenario in March. Oh well, too bad for them. We paid the premium price for the exclusivity. If everyone brought a friend, it would ruin the atmosphere. It’s nice and uncrowded and should stay that way.

Not only were they checking wristbands, but also the Havana sticker on the back of your card. They were very strict and I was glad to see it.

in theory yes but watching the scam it was quite easy to beat the system. We watched daily people come in with bands on that were not staying in Havana cabins that they got from their friends who were. If a person who gave their band away was asked where it was they simply showed the card with the sticker. This went on all week. We found the enforcement to be minimal.

The second best one was the 2 couples who bought older bands off E bay Brilliant idea to the seller. Still debating if I am going to sell mine.

I do see Carnival selling Day Passes to Havana in the future. Just like FTTF people will pay a daily premium rate to use the area

For us found the experience not as good as Haven on NCL. we will be comparing it to MSC Yacht Club soon

My thoughts ,

Fireman's wife thanks for the tips a few months ago

First of all, there are different colored bracelets, so if someone bought them on EBay they are running the risk of buying the wrong ones. Carnival will not sell day passes as it would defeat the purpose of the upcharge that they are currently earning by charging a premium for those cabins. Because of the success of the program on the Vista they have decided to do a 20% increase in capacity on the Horizon and I am assuming it will be the same on the Panorama.

Have not sailed in the Haven on NCL because it's out of my price range, but we were in the Yacht Club on the Seaside in an inside cabin back in January. Here is a link to my review.https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2598283

I think the Havana area would be more in line with the Vibe area on NCL. Kid free and no additional restaurant and you pay a little more than Vibe to have the pool, multiple hot tubs and aft view.

I thought the same thing about not selling it But we see them sell FTTF which is a up charge. I never thought my airline would sell early boarding and they now do.. Carnival has seen that the area is underused that is why they added 20% more on the new Factory ship.. Guess time will tell. I am all for them selling it will help the bottom line.. Great review

You are 100% correct...You basically paying a 65-70% surcharge for a controlled area with a pool and 2 hot tubs. After cruising on the Seaside last week in Yacht Club..... I can't believe I paid what I did for Havana and got so little considering the YC price was almost the same as Havana.... MSC YC is best deal on the Sea!!

I enjoyed our Seaside cruise, but hated the entertainment options with main showroom shows that were geared towards Europeans and had no stand up comedy or piano bar. If pricing is a sweet spot, then we may be back on MSC in the future, especially if Ocean Cay ever gets built.

Thats the beauty of a cruise...so many options. Entertainment is a non-factor with us. I'm a Casino/Sports Bar person with some late night wandering and wife likes to retire early....so its pretty hard for us to have a "bad" cruise!! All I can say is that I have never received such consistent high level of service (from everyone within Yacht Club) as I have on last weeks cruise. So impressed.

Anyone know if any Horizon Haven cabins are triples or quads?

Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk

First of all, Haven cabins are on NCL, Havana area cabins are on Carnival. Just did a fake booking on the 1/19/20 sailing. Triples and quads were available for that sailing on all three types of cabins on deck 5, which are inside (5221), lanai balcony (5201) and suites (5235). Don't know if any of the aft balconies, deluxe balconies or corner aft balconies on higher decks are available as triple and quads for other sailings. Remember, nobody under the age of 12 can be booked into one of these cabins.

We have one of the three person Havana Cabana cabins (5227) booked for Thanksgiving week this year on Horizon. It will be me, my husband, and our 14 year old son. I believe besides the Havana Cabana suites, there are only two other three person Havana Cabana cabins. They are very hard to come by and book early. We booked ours almost two years early.

Which sailing was that?

My 7 night Havana Cabana was about $2,200 all in for 2 people

MSC Yacht club (granted this was on Divina, so it is a 10-night cruise) where Yacht Club is only available as a Suite, so the pricing isn't quite the same) was $3650 PER PERSON. Plus port fees/charges.

Granted, it's not really a fair comparison because Yacht Club is closer to The Haven, IMO (in terms of what all you get). However, MSC website seems to tell me (granted their website is notoriously buggy) that on Seaside, the Yacht Club cannot be had in a Balcony configuration at least for the last 6 cruise dates I've tried (and don't care to waste my time trying others).

Don't get me wrong. If I ever sail MSC again, it will only be in the Yacht Club (otherwise it's too painful, no matter how decent the pricing is, IMO), but currently only Divina has the itineraries that appeal (Seaside just visits ports I've already been to). And almost $4,000 per person is too much for me. I can get at least 2 cruises in a Havana Cabana for that.

Except that is exactly what they do with the spa day passes and the people who stay in the spa rooms that pay an upcharge for the weeklong access.
