Port Hints for Italy and Barcelona

Sailing 10/29-11/11 to Italy and back to back Barcelona. What type of clothes do we need. One of the cruises in on Costa- do men need to wear sports coats for dinner? Can you bring wine aboard the Costa ship?

For questions specific to Costa I suggest that you ask them in the Costa cruise forum. They'll answer your question about dinner attire and wine.

Thank you for your information. Do you have the name of a hotel that is close to the airport in Rome ( one that will pick up at the cruise port and not too expensive- our flight leaves early the next morning

The port is about 1 hr away

you could take the train

check for hotels near FCO that fit your budget

As far as I know there are no hotels near the airport that would pick you up at the port. You'll have to figure out some type of transfer (cruise line, private car, etc.)

Hilton Garden Inn isn't a bad choice near the airport if you MUST stay there. They have a nearly continuous shuttle that picks up/drops off at a couple of spots at the airport. There is a proper Hilton that is actually connected to the airport via a walkway as well but it's usually more expensive.

If you look on the Italy board, as suggested, you will see the Hilton FCO is physically part of the airport. Very easy to use.

No hotel in Rome is going to have a shuttle or pickup at the port which is in Civitavecchia, an hour away.
