Nicoleb789 Posted October 2, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 2, 2017 We will be cruising for the first time out of NY in Nov. What is the process once we park? What time should we arrive? How many lines do we have to wait in? What do we do with our luggage? Thanks!! Nicole

Nicoleb789 Posted October 2, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted October 2, 2017 Which port? We have 3 (though one is in NJ). NCL Breakaway. Says NY but I think it is Manhattan.
Rare mskaufman Posted October 2, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 2, 2017 We parked at the pier. We arrived around 9:30, but no need to arrive that early (left room from traffic and such, which we did not encounter on a Sat morning). Took the elevator downstairs and checked our luggage. Walked into the terminal and got on line (figure 10am at this point). They started checking folks in around 10:30 and boarding about 45 minutes later. 138east Posted October 2, 2017 #8 Share Posted October 2, 2017 Driving from Philadelphia. Good - you're close by. Up the NJ turnpike and through the Lincoln Tunnel on a Sunday morning should be just fine.
Rare mking8288 Posted October 2, 2017 #9 Share Posted October 2, 2017 A heads-up for folks driving into Manhattan over the next several weeks & possibly months - the approach to/from downtown NYC's Holland Tunnel has been compromised - traffic disruptions and gridlock conditions warned until full repairs can be made due to a fire that affected the nearby roadway/support. Here's that PANYNJ alert & link to check for latest update - http://www.panynj.gov/alerts-advisories/release-article.cfm?headLine_id=2797&facilityItem=Holland On weekends, the Lincoln Tunnel's midtown Manhattan, as always, is the better approach coming up from points south & west of NYC ... otherwise, take a slightly longer route up the NJ Turnpike to the G.W. Bridge & then a quick & direct ride down the Henry Hudson Parkway to the pier. Checking nyharbour's live webcam, marinetraffic website or ship's live webcam around 6 or 7 AM to see whether the ship has arrived or about to dock at the pier - and, plan the drive from nearby ... We generally arrived around 10 AM for NCL sailings, first - drop off luggage outside the pier terminal with the porters, walk inside & have documents/passports or travel docs ready to go thru security screening. Then, proceed inside for check-in and then wait for the boarding, by zones - following VIP's, Havens, CAS & special needs, etc. starting around 11 AM but sometimes as late as 11:45 to noon if the ship is really late. Two gangways are used for boarding and it is a long "Z" ramp to the ship ... crew will try to direct everyone to the buffet for lunch but the MDR (Taste & Savor) are open at noon for sit-down meals, for 90 minutes. Enjoy .... we will be on the BA ourselves & back by early November.

Rare mskaufman Posted October 2, 2017 #11 Share Posted October 2, 2017 Ok that isn't bad at all. I was expecting more lines and waiting. Thanks for the info I've been telling anyone who asked how convenient the pier parking is. We've been on a dozen cruises, although this was the first out of NYC. Walking for check-in was fairly typical.
