hooked-cruiser Posted November 12, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 12, 2017 We are travelling on the Sapphire to the Baltic during the time the World Cup is on in Russia (St Petersburg) and wonder if Princess will show the games on TV and the MUTS? crows nest club Posted November 12, 2017 #2 Share Posted November 12, 2017 We have been been on Princess cruises many times during the world cup, euros and during premiership season. They have always had LIVE football in the cabins, casino and on deck via MUTS. If the weather was inclement at the time, then last World Cup they had it on tvs in Vista Lounge. Sailing from Southampton with possibly 80% Brits on board we have found this is normally so. Just keep your fingers crossed that the sattilite reception is favourable. However, for all your non lovers of the footie, be assured there is still plenty of other entertainment offered.!!!
tailspintom Posted November 12, 2017 #3 Share Posted November 12, 2017 We are travelling on the Sapphire to the Baltic during the time the World Cup is on in Russia (St Petersburg) and wonder if Princess will show the games on TV and the MUTS? One would think so. Princess has covered baseball post season games, Super bowl and NFL playoffs, NCAA basketball finals and other international events on some of our cruises. They sell lots of alcohol at these events so it is beneficial for them to get people out of their cabins and on deck. For me, soccer helps me sleep. I have slept through many of those thrilling 0-0, 1-0 games. But I do recognize that many people enjoy the game.
paul929207 Posted November 12, 2017 #4 Share Posted November 12, 2017 We will be in St. Petersburg on the Pacific Princess the day one semi-final is played there. I wonder how that will effect tours and traffic.
brian1 Posted November 12, 2017 #5 Share Posted November 12, 2017 I think the new stadium is just across the road from the cruiseport.
hooked-cruiser Posted November 12, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted November 12, 2017 We drove past the new stadium in St Petersburg this summer and it is about 10 minutes from the cruise terminal. All the advertising was in place as well and our tour rep informed us that there were 1,000's of locals already being interviewed for temporary positions to cover the event.
