Rare Crew News Posted November 14, 2017 #2 Share Posted November 14, 2017 (edited) First time on Holland. Sailing Eurodam over Thanksgiving and was wondering if they did a special menu in Thanksgiving day in the dining room. Sent from my SM-G935V using Forums mobile app There is indeed a special Thanksgiving menu with all of the trimmings with a huge display at the MDR entrance. The chocolate chip pecan pie was the best dessert that I ever had on a HAL cruise on the Zuiderdam last Thanksgiving. Menu included: Pate and shrimp cocktail appetizers, spiced pumpkin soup, sweet corn soup, carrot vichyssoise, and bibb lettuce salad. Entrees included: roast turkey, beef tenderloin Oscar, brown sugar glazed salmon, Honey-baked ham, and pumpkin ravioli. Desserts were pumpkin pie, chocolate pecan pie, apple pie, pumpkin tart, and a special Thanksgiving sundae. The turkey was juicy and the made-from-scratch giblet dressing amazing. You will not leave hungry. Edited November 14, 2017 by Crew News
Hflors Posted November 14, 2017 #3 Share Posted November 14, 2017 We had a wonderful "Thanksgiving" dinner on Rotterdam last year (even though we were in Europe). Turkey with all the trimmings and even pumpkin pie!
Krazy Kruizers Posted November 14, 2017 #4 Share Posted November 14, 2017 Hope you get the real turkey and not the processed stuff that was served on several of our Thanksgiving cruises. Never saw the pecan pie but there was pumpkin and apple pie.
debcruising Posted November 14, 2017 #5 Share Posted November 14, 2017 Krazy Kruizers, I was on the Eurodam for Thanksgiving last year and they served the processed Turkey. On the 3 Thanksgiving Cruises, I did not see the Pecan Pie, but I will look for it on the NA next week!! Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
dontworry Posted November 14, 2017 #6 Share Posted November 14, 2017 I know you asked about the MDR but on the Zuiderdam.last month in the Lido for the Canadian Thanksgiving it was real turkey. They carved the birds in front of you. They also served wonderful dressing, cranberries and mashed potatoes with gravy. Of course you could get more helpings as well. There was pumpkin pie for desert too.
