mejoe39 Posted November 14, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 14, 2017 We were just on the Carnival Pride for the Halloween cruise. As we usually do, we brought some sodas on board and planned to put them in the refrigerator in the cabin. When we got to the cabin there was a refrigerator but it was empty and not working. We called the front desk to report that the refrigerator was not working and were told that it is a (I forget the exact word they used) thing to keep things at room temperature. Really? You need an appliance for that? So for the rest of the cruise we had the room steward bring in ice. Is this a new thing that is taking place on other Carnival ships or just the Pride? springs741 Posted November 14, 2017 #2 Share Posted November 14, 2017 It has always been hit or miss with the temperature of those little fridges. Really, an appliance to keep things at room temp? Why then did Carnival use them as a mini bar for soft drinks? You were too kind. I would have politely requested a working fridge. I understand they can't guarantee temperature but it does need to function as some sort of cooling device.
klfrodo Posted November 14, 2017 #3 Share Posted November 14, 2017 Why then did Carnival use them as a mini bar for soft drinks? . Because at that time it was a possible revenue source for the Cruise line. Just like at hotels Now, it's no longer a revenue source. No reason to maintain the fridge. NavarreCruiser Posted November 14, 2017 #5 Share Posted November 14, 2017 I carry along a small digital thermometer to measure the room and fridge temps. I have used these readings to get a replacement cooler (they are not really refrigerators) for the cabin in 2 out of the last 8-10 Carnival cruises. cruisenewbie1 Posted November 14, 2017 #6 Share Posted November 14, 2017 On my Breeze 10/8 cruise, the fridge kept my water very cold. I was surprised after reading everything in the forums.
SadieN Posted November 14, 2017 #7 Share Posted November 14, 2017 On our September Miracle cruise our cabin had a brand new fridge. Quite possibly the ship had no replacements onboard. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
sharkbait2 Posted November 14, 2017 #8 Share Posted November 14, 2017 On our 14 day Panama Camel cruise, our fridge wasn't cooling. Pulled out the fridge and found the temp controller on the back. It was set on 1. Turned it all the way up and had cold drinks the rest of the cruise. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
cb at sea Posted November 15, 2017 #9 Share Posted November 15, 2017 That's right...sometimes, they're turned off...so turn them on! And, if they are in a cabinet...there's no airflow...fridges NEED air! Prop the cabinet door open, and it will cool MUCH better!
Ocean Dancer Posted November 15, 2017 #10 Share Posted November 15, 2017 They are NOT refrigerators, they are coolers. This is the dumbest invention of all time. Yes, prop open the outer door for air flow.:*
