beefeater45 Posted November 14, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 14, 2017 Not Having sailed previously on RC! ships I want to ask a question about buying a Soda package for our 2 granddaughters aged 14 & 11 we are taking on a 6 day cruise from Sydney to Tasmania return. The cost is $12-48 aud a day, but thats not a problem. If they were to buy a single Soda from bar what would the cost be + 18% Grat. Trying to work out how many drinks for that $12.48 you would get a day.
awestover89 Posted November 14, 2017 #2 Share Posted November 14, 2017 In USD sodas are usually about $3 each before the grats, which google tells me is about $4 AUD. So roughly 3 sodas per day per granddaughter to break even on the package. Also, bottles of water are offered with the soda package, and those are about $2 USD before grats

The_Big_M Posted November 15, 2017 #6 Share Posted November 15, 2017 There is one factor that encourages children to want a beverage package on Explorer of the Seas; it is the only way to use the Freestyle machine with a variety of drinks. If only purchasing by the drink they cannot use the machine so are stuck with the traditional limited varieties. Of course if they're the person who only ever drinks _one_ type of soft drink only that probably won't be a concern. As for the pricing, local pricing onboard includes gratuity and will be about USD4 a drink. This converts to around AUD5. That means they need to buy at least 3 soft drinks a day, every day for the package to be economically worthwhile.
