Tampa - hotel shuttle vs. taxi cost

Our hotel in Tampa (Extended Stay America - Airport - Memorial Hwy) offers a shuttle to the port for $10/pp. Is that a good deal, or would it be cheaper for the 5 of us to call a cab? Or Uber? (Not very familiar with Uber - it doesn't operate where I live.)

You didn't say if you are five adults or if there are children in your party.

 

If you are a family you should be able to take one Uber SUV for around $30.00

 

If there are more of you, two vehicles could be booked for around $50.00 total.

Thanks for your reply. We are five adults. We thought maybe a minivan taxi would work? If we need two cabs, might be easier to take the shuttle for the same price.

In terms of the Taxi and even the one Uber vehicle it will depend how much luggage you will have in total.

Taxi is a flat rate $25 from the airport to the port.

That's correct.

 

You have a few options.

 

If it was me I would call the hotel and let them know how many people you have and how much luggage and ask them if a taxi would accommodate all of you and if they know the cost.

Mini-Van/SUV cabs - which you would need with 5 adults and bags - are the same fare as the standard cabs. If you use a taxi ask the front desk staff to call, they know who to call and who is reliable.

Probably, but still better than a shuttle.:)
