Ashland Posted January 12, 2018 #26 Share Posted January 12, 2018 So...saw mention of Valuetrips. I haven’t used them before and their website doesn’t seem to have any privacy protections. Anyone had any issues? I was looking for the night of 4/22 and another night in May. Under exclusions 4/17-4/22 is listed. Does that mean I am out of luck for a discount the night of 4/22? Thanks Privacy protection.....you aren't required to put in a credit card....Go through the online checkin and see if your night of 4-22 is available...it cost you nothing to book it with Valuetrips...you pay the hotel directly at check out. We have used Valuetrips many times with no problem.

Edit to add… I just went back and ignored the part about credit cards hit send ....fingers crossed on what happens. I put in two different dates. From then on you can deal directly with Hyatt Place to request bedding type etc. or to cancel.
Reina del Mar Posted January 12, 2018 #29 Share Posted January 12, 2018 We flew in to FLL from UK last Easter. We chose Embassy Suites. None of the hotels in this area seem particularly cheap . We stayed for four nights. Situated within an easy walk to Harbor Shops.. several restaurants (we used Duffy's), Publix, Total Wine. CVC Pharmacy within half a mile. TK Maxx, Dollar Tree (like Poundland) and Ross Dress for Less nearby for any forgotten clothing / miscellaneous items. Outlet Mall about 15 min drive away (hired car for $93 a day including all taxes and insurance..you can get a shuttle for about $50 pp return) Embassy Suites provide manager's evening reception...drinks and minor snacks each evening and an included breakfast buffet with cooked to order egg station. The hotel is older and could do with some refurbishment but our room was clean. There is a pleasant swimming pool area with towels available. Staff very professional and helpful. Hyatt Suites is close to this property but we didn't visit it. From what I have been reading, more people recommending Hyatt. The location of either, with facilities that are offered would be our choice for next cruise out of Port Everglades. For $1 per person, per trip (or $3 full day) you can catch Sun Trolley to beach and/or Galleria Mall. Taxi from airport to hotel (late eve) was $22 incl tip. Taxi Hotel to Port Everglades $12 and port back to airport $20 Hope this is helpful even though doesn't link with your suggested hotels. Bon Voyage. We stayed at the Embassy Suites last spring and I did not like it at all. The rooms needed a lot of updating, our air conditioning was noisy and didn't work correctly no, there was no person to take the luggage, you had to wait to get your luggage if you had them holding it, they didn't answer the front phones probably, and people working had a bad attitude. We did have one person that came to look at the air conditioner who was a nice guy and helped us out. But I won't stay there again. We thought the reception was a joke so if you looking for drinks and snacks they were very basic. My husband did like the breakfast but that was about it. Thanks for the info we've been to Fort Lauderdale multiple times and we have used the sun trolley a lot. From then on you can deal directly with Hyatt Place to request bedding type etc. or to cancel. So I put in 2 different requests and I had two emails waiting for me from valuetrips this morning. The date of April 22nd was declined as not available, my other date might be accepted however they declined my request because I didn't put in credit card information. I just don't feel comfortable providing them credit card information when their website does not show any type of privacy protection. So that stinks! JohninDC Posted January 18, 2018 #34 Share Posted January 18, 2018 So anyone have any recommendations for a decent hotel somewhere between the Fort Lauderdale airport and the Miami cruise port? Thanks! Sent from my iPad using Forums www.sunny.org has lots of FLL area hotel and tourist info. Budget and dates would help the suggestions to be closer to your target - the $300 room in Feb can go for under $100 in August. ;) Hollywood is sort of located between FLL and Miami -- how are you getting to POM? It might be easier to stay in the FLL area and then use a shared shuttle or Uber to get to POM. I do not think most of the popular shuttles pick up at Hollywood hotels. :(

Looking in the range of $150 to $200 for a decent hotel...some extras like breakfast for hubby would be nice. .....Debbie :)
