Mistizoom Posted January 27, 2018 #27 Share Posted January 27, 2018 Does anyone know if there is snorkeling at Royal Palms? It looks like a nice place, but DH is looking to snorkel in Grand Cayman...I'd rather spend the day at a resort. Who wins??? ;p~Joanne We like both also, thinking of going to Royal Palms but doing a one hour snorkel tour to Cheeseburger Reef with Salt Watersports Cayman which is located at Royal Palms, $29 pp.

JayceeP Posted January 30, 2018 #29 Share Posted January 30, 2018 We booked a beach cabana at Royal Palms and I like that there are water sports right on site that can take you on a tour/excursion. Best of both worlds!
scvgirl Posted January 31, 2018 #30 Share Posted January 31, 2018 We had our taxi driver take us to Hemingway's. Beautiful beach, restaurant, pool, shade, umbrellas, loungers and hot tub. The hotel is closed for renovation, but the facilities are open and wonderful. You can order drinks and food right on the beach, no need to clean up for the restaurant. Rare Peachypooh Posted February 10, 2018 #32 Share Posted February 10, 2018 We booked a pool cabana at Royal Palms. It was really, really nice. Very uncrowded as opposed to the beach area and we could just walk to the beach when we wanted to. Aprox. 100 feet.
basil1 Posted February 13, 2018 #33 Share Posted February 13, 2018 I'd like to hear more about this. If the hotel is closed I'd think the area wouldn't be too crowded. Sounds perfect. Does one need a reservation? Thanks We had our taxi driver take us to Hemingway's. Beautiful beach, restaurant, pool, shade, umbrellas, loungers and hot tub. KarimaJ Posted February 23, 2018 #35 Share Posted February 23, 2018 At Royal Palm, kids aren't allowed in the pool? Trying to find something to do with a 13 year old.
bookbabe Posted February 23, 2018 #36 Share Posted February 23, 2018 At Royal Palm, kids aren't allowed in the pool? Trying to find something to do with a 13 year old. Correct. No one under 18 in the pool. I'd head to Calico Jacks. Much better venue for a family with kids.
GuavaTechAngels Posted April 26, 2018 #37 Share Posted April 26, 2018 Calico Jacks is right next to Public Beach, which has free picnic shelters if you get there early enough to score one. Or, get an umbrella and loungers at either location if your group is small. However, you want a guaranteed cabana, especially for a larger group, spend the extra and reserve one at Royal Palms. Royal Palms 110% Unfortunately, irresponsible tourists and locals somehow always manage to litter up the public sections of 7 Mile Beach, so we stay clear of those areas. Plus, near the Royal Palms, you can see mansions like the one being built by a Middle East Oil Prince for his sister.
MizDemeanor Posted June 3, 2018 #38 Share Posted June 3, 2018 Is the beach area at Royal Palms very crowded? Are chairs easily available or must we get there very early to be certian to have beach loungers?
cruzdon Posted June 19, 2018 #39 Share Posted June 19, 2018 BookBabe, Do you have to book royal palms in advance or just walk in and pay when you arrive? Thanks
Banana15 Posted June 19, 2018 Author #40 Share Posted June 19, 2018 We had one ship in port and it was not too busy, but I understand any more than one ship and it will get crowded. You do not have to pay in advance. You choose your seats and they will come around and collect payment.
bookbabe Posted June 20, 2018 #41 Share Posted June 20, 2018 BookBabe, Do you have to book royal palms in advance or just walk in and pay when you arrive? Thanks If you want a cabana, you may want to reserve one ahead of time. If just chairs, you can get those the day-of since there’s more of them available

TravellingBritNY Posted January 25, 2019 #50 Share Posted January 25, 2019 I haven't been there in a while, but there used to be a nominal fee for cruise visitors. Hopefully someone can give more up-to-date information, but I think it was around $5 per person.
