zzmmmommy Posted January 1, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 1, 2018 Any suggestions for Amber Cove excursion? Nothing extreme- 4 kids (ages 6,9, 12, 14). Not interested in any ATV or type of excursion like that- friend had a horrible accident 2 years ago while on a cruise and I can’t shake the fear. Any of the beach or resort passes have enough activities for the kids? We loved Playa Del Maya in Cozumel last year- anything similar? Thanks! ABQrobin Posted January 1, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 1, 2018 stay in the port....huge kids area with their own pool. Two water slides. It is free, go back on ship for lunch. umbrellas are extra but they set them up for you, worth it several large pools all connected
beachbum53 Posted January 1, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 1, 2018 This is the excursion we chose for our visit at Amber Cove: https://www.carnival.com/shore-excursions/amber-cove/mega-truck-adventure-and-beach-break-with-lunch-445019 Not the greatest beach we've ever been to, but we still had a fun day. We got back to the port in time to explore the shops before going back on the ship.
Pellaz Posted January 2, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 2, 2018 OP, you probably won't need to book an excursion unless you (or your kids) REALLY want to visit a beach at Amber Cove. There is no beach within walking distance of the pier, but as those photos show, there is a very nice pool area and plenty of loungers (literally thousands). Free water-slide and a relatively inexpensive zip-line, too.
pooksma Posted January 2, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 2, 2018 ITA with previous posts. Our son was 14 when we were at Amber Cove. Had a great day ziplining, swimming and enjoying the water slides.
Clarasgrandma Posted January 2, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 2, 2018 Thanks for sharing these pictures! Nice to have a visual on what to expect! zzmmmommy Posted January 2, 2018 Author #7 Share Posted January 2, 2018 Thank you all! I don't think we need to visit a beach (we live in South FL)- kids would rather do the water slide and try the small zip lining when we first get off. We aren't crazy about driving and being far from the ship so the idea of just walking off and doing what is right there is perfect for us. Thank you! shellsd Posted January 3, 2018 #8 Share Posted January 3, 2018 We did the island tour with Outback Adventures with my (then) 8 year old and 12 year old and really enjoyed it. It was eye opening for them to see how they lived.
