I have noted on CC that very recent cruisers have mentioned the wine card program no longer exists? Is that correct, as our last Norway cruise in Jun 17, they we still available on cruises longer than 10 days. Any information is appreciated.

It was not available on our 15 night Star Princess Vancouver>Hawaii>Vancouver trip in September. We specifically asked the Head Waiter about it and he rambled into a long explanation that we never did understand. So...it appears to vary depending on the ship/itinerary, just like so many things on Princess.

For Navywife26, when it's available, you purchase a set number of bottles of wine for a total price, and receive a punch card. There used to be 3 different levels of packages, representing wines up to a specific price per bottle, and a specific number of bottles. The total cost worked out to be less expensive than buying the same number of bottles individually. You can use the card in the dining room or most lounges, and when you purchase a bottle, they punch the card until you have used it all.

Two levels if offered. Up to $29 per bottle packages and up to $45 I think.

This was offered as recently as our Royal Princess 15 day TA cruise in October 2017 & availability is subject to having sufficient wine inventory.

Note: A 15% gratuity is added to all package prices (like any other bar purchase).

Silver Package (wines up to $29 per bottle list price)

7 bottles -- $161 (average of $23 per bottle)

10 bottles -- $210 (average of $21 per bottle)

12 bottles -- $240 (average of $20 per bottle)

Gold Package (wines up to $45 per bottle list price)

7 bottles -- $217 (average of $31 per bottle)

10 bottles -- $290 (average of $29 per bottle)

12 bottles -- $336 (average of $28 per bottle)

You get a punch card which can be used at any of the dining locations. If you don't finish the bottle they'll store it for another time. You can get a bottle in the dining room & drink it anywhere onboard.

You may choose any wine on on the regular wine menu. If you want to buy a wine that costs more than what the package covers, you just pay the difference. For example, if you have a Gold package and buy a wine that costs $46, the charge for $46 will appear on your stateroom account, followed by a $45 credit.
