LocoLoco1 Posted January 22, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 22, 2018 We'd love to see a bit of London post-cruise then on to Ireland. Are there many day-tours originating at the Southhampton Pier that terminate in London proper? We will backpack.. no luggage.

Are there many day-tours originating at the Southhampton Pier that terminate in London proper?Do you want to see London, or do you want to see English countryside outside London when you are on the way from Southampton (note spelling) to London? If you want to see London, then you might as well just get yourself there as fast as possible, and then sightsee in the traditional way. I'm not sure where Ireland comes into this equation given that the thread title is "Southampton to Ireland". When, how and from where are you planning to travel on to Ireland, and to where in Ireland?
Bob++ Posted January 22, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 22, 2018 And for how long will you be in either place?
LocoLoco1 Posted January 23, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted January 23, 2018 Often used by CCer's, see if anything suits you here https://www.internationalfriends.co.uk/ Simon Thank-you. Our intentions are for 1st day-trip in and near London proper, then on to Ireland for a longer Motorcoach holiday. Will be arriving Southhampton after a Transatlantic and wish to begin a Daytour upon disembarkation.

If you start a tour on disembarkation, you won't be starting "in and near London proper". Hence the questions about what you really want to see. kerryincork Posted January 23, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 23, 2018 Also Southampton has it's own airport that flies direct to Ireland. You don't necessarily have to catch your flight to Ireland from London. Unless you want to do some sightseeing. Bob++ Posted January 23, 2018 #8 Share Posted January 23, 2018 I would have thought that the cost of travelling to London, a hotel for the night, then a flight from Heathrow would outweigh the benefit. I think that you should either fly straight to Ireland, or allow two or three days to whizz past some of the sights in and around London.
PhilbeachTraveller Posted January 23, 2018 #9 Share Posted January 23, 2018 Agree with Bob++. Much cheaper to fly from Southampton and you can always book the return to be London and then have a few days there (a day in London is really not enough) before you head home.
