Rare www3traveler Posted February 11, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 11, 2018 Jewel Class ships have Muster Drills inside in various locations: theater, restaurants, bar spaces. Your Room Key card will have a Letter and number on the bottom of it. The Letter is the location and the number is your particular section. emcelh Posted February 11, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 11, 2018 It depends on where your cabin is located. I've been on several NCL ships including the Gem, and the muster drills have always been inside, even in warm weather. Ours were held in the aft MDR on the Gem since we were in aft cabins. It's an improvement over the experience on Carnival, where we've been packed together standing together on the deck, sometimes in the heat, waiting for latecomers to show up.. Sitting in an air conditioned room is a much nicer way to start a vacation.
Rare KeithJenner Posted February 11, 2018 #6 Share Posted February 11, 2018 It depends on where your cabin is located. I've been on several NCL ships including the Gem, and the muster drills have always been inside, even in warm weather. Ours were held in the aft MDR on the Gem since we were in aft cabins. There are a couple of NCL ships which have Muster drill outside. One is the Spirit and I believe there is at least one other ship, but I can’t recall which one. As you say though, on most NCL ships, including the Jewel class ones, they are held indoors.
jeepfan2006 Posted March 24, 2018 #7 Share Posted March 24, 2018 When I was on the Dawn in September 2017, my muster station was outside on the deck (maybe deck 7?). It was quick and easy though. Not bad at all. The muster drills are so much better now than my first cruise. Back then, we had to put our life vest on in our room before heading down to the muster station. I just remember it being so hot. Now you can sit in comfort and enjoy your drink, as long as you pay attention and stay off of your phone.

Rare mking8288 Posted March 24, 2018 #9 Share Posted March 24, 2018 And, you no longer need to bring those bulk life vests from your stateroom ... (it's been that for quite a while now with NCL, whew) to report for the drill, just have your Guest Key Card as they will either scan/swipe it on their handheld terminal ... or, do it manually - marked/checked off from the clipboard on your attendance. It's quick & simple, usually over in 15 or 20 minutes. Ours held outside LeBistro by the bars ... Deck 6 MID, inside - steps away from the nearby casino. Rare KeithJenner Posted March 25, 2018 #10 Share Posted March 25, 2018 We haven’t mustered outside on Spirit for at least the last 3 cruises in the last 2-3 years. I suspect you are misremembering. I’m am currently on the Spirit, with muster drill in a couple of hours. As on every other Spirit cruise we have done it is on the promenade deck (as stated in the freestyle daily). Maybe there are a few cabins which have an inside muster station (although I’ve never seen any indication of that), but certainly the vast majority, if not all, are outside on the promenade deck.
