None the less' date=' we took it and considered that a free cruise + return of the cruise fare was a great deal.[/quote']Yes, that's a great deal. Especially for the couple we met on our British isles cruise last summer. I'm not sure what they paid for their balcony cabin, but they're currently going for more than $4,000 for two. That's a nice chunk of change to get back.

Why would Princess do that? Most likely the ship is overbooked; just like the airlines that sell more tickets than seats for every flight, Princess sells more bookings (usually guarantees) than actual cabins as the number of last minute cancellations can usually be quite accurately predicted. Though by the number of recent threads on this topic, perhaps the booking matrix needs some tweaking.

Could also be that there is a long waiting list of passengers willing to pay rack rate for a last minute booking. Especially clients of super high volume agents. Princess ends up getting more additional cash than what it costs them in OBC to the passenger accepting the move over offer. Which is entirely voluntary.......

So we've all heard about times where the airlines have involuntarily bumped people from flights because of overbooking and not enough volunteers. Does that ever happen on Princess? Anyone ever have a Guarantee, show up at the pier and are told "...sorry, no cabin for you"?

I got a move over offer for the same cruise. It states that we can move over to any alternate 7 day cruise. No mention of upgraded cabin which I know they usually offer. I'm waiting for my TA to call the department this morning and see what they say.

Considering what I paid for my cabin with the casino offer, I'm not sure the move over offer is really worth it for me without an upgrade.

I did not believe the cruise line would tell you there is no place for you on the ship at the pier until this week. My travel agent is also an owner for a cruise travel company, it happened to her (party of 3) on a Princess cruise. Princess ended put them up in a hotel for 1 night and next day they sent them to a Celebrity ship. She did not say what Princess had to give out their mess up.

After heard this it will keep me from booking a guarantee in the future.
