Beach San Juan

The beaches near Condado are often heavy surf. Isla Verde area near the airport has an outer reef and better sand, about a $23 cab ride (zoned fares in San Juan). Typical tourist area with lots of hotels and services.

As Bob suggests, good info on the San Juan board. Also a guy that has good local info on beaches and transportation if you do an internet search for "San Juan Piers". He used to post regularly on that board but haven't seen him recently.
