olemissreb Posted February 26, 2018 #3 Share Posted February 26, 2018 Depends on what you are interested in. We were on Celebrity 5 years ago, but same itinerary as Radiance. We also did a week inland before the cruise. We did a whale watching tour, a Kenai Fjords tour, Behind the Scenes tour at the Alaska Sea Life Center, white water rafting, Midnight ATV ride, shuttle to Wonder Lake in Denali National Park, flight seeing to Misty Fjords National Monument, hiking on a glacier, train ride (twice), zipline. There is so much to do, but you have to decide what you are most interested in and plan accordingly. Best place to start is your local bookstore or library and pick up some guide books. I like Frommers Alaska, but many on the Alaska Boards also recommend Anne Viponds Alaska by Cruiseship (or something along those lines).
luvbrady Posted February 26, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 26, 2018 We went horseback riding in Skagway. After a nice ride through the woods we opened into hands down one of the most beautiful spots ever. It was a huge open meadow surrounded by giant mountains with a glacial stream running through. Leslie K Posted February 27, 2018 #7 Share Posted February 27, 2018 Skagway consider the white Pass and Yukon railway, a dog sled/ musher camp visit. In Juneau you can do Roberts Tram on your own, we did a whale watch/Mendenhall glacier excursion but you don’t walk on the glacier if that’s important and we only saw whale flippers or blows. We saw orcas from the ship during the inside passage. And I saw more whales on the east coast years ago. In Ketchikan we toured a totem pole park and the lumberjack/log rolling show. In Icy Point we did a tram tour that was a bit long, slow and got boring but it ended with a cultural show that explained the history and beliefs of the people and demonstrated the dances which we enjoyed. Our level of mobility often limits us. You need to decide your activity level and interests as there are so many options. PCWalton1 Posted February 27, 2018 #8 Share Posted February 27, 2018 By far our favorite excursion was a float plane trip in Ketchikan with Island Wings piloted by Michelle Masden.

That was one of our favorites too. Such gorgeous scenery and the sound track she had playing along brought tears to my eyes.
