Whats all the fuss about the AARP gift cards? Are there any benefits?

Unfortunately too many people know about it now, take the quizes for the points and then the electronic gift cards sell out within a few days. But they seem to re stock in a timely manner.

Is there anyway I can use AARP cards to pay off my cruise -- I booked thru a travel agent and have to pay the agent for the remainder of my cruise. I'm thinking it only works to pay on your actual cruise when you book directly thru Carnival, right? I did buy $1100 worth and paid for our cheers, internet and $75 credit on the ship. Went with travel agent cause they gave me free gratuities!

 

My TA accepts them and applies them toward payment for my cruises. I use a local TA, not an on-line organization. I don't know why that would make any difference since Carnival states gift cards can be used toward payment for the cruise fare.

So can I use these gift cards to book Cheers before I get on the ship, or can they only be actually used on the ship itself?

 

Once on the ship, you can go to Guest Services and apply gift cards to your account as often as you want. Just be sure to apply a credit card to open up your onboard account. Nothing will be charged to your credit card until the end of your cruise.

You do not need to use a credit card at all if that is not your thing, open a cash acct and go to GS or one of the kiosks onboard and apply the GC's to your acct, we only do cash accts and it works great with the discounted GC's.
