zonacruiser25 Posted March 2, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 2, 2018 We arrive in Yokohama on Oct 6 and want to spend 3 nights in Tokyo. We can fly out of Narita or Haneda airports on the 9th. We are looking for a hotel central enough for some sightseeing, possibly a bullet train ride, and somewhat easy to get to airport after. Never been to Japan and looking for suggestions. Thanks! DarkJedi Posted March 2, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 2, 2018 Getting to the airport is pretty easy as long as you are near a station. We are staying at the Gracery in Shinjuku, but it depends on what type of accommodations you want. For us Gracery was convenient to the Shinjuku station and near several things we wanted to see in Shinjuku, plus close to Shibuya and easy to get to Akihabara and Akasusa. mustgo Posted March 2, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 2, 2018 Never been to Tokyo either. We picked Hyatt Regency in Shinjuku for reason similar to DarkJedi. It looks like and easy base, has a free shuttle to the Shinjuku station to connect on most public transportation, and has an inexpensive shuttle to and from Haneda airport. We were able to transfer Chase points to Hyatt to book an executive room which includes club privileges. Figured that would make life easy, only have to find a lunch each day. DarkJedi Posted March 3, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 3, 2018 Lunch should be grabbed from any small vendor and savored :)
zonacruiser25 Posted March 4, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted March 4, 2018 We are looking at Intercontinental Tokyo Harbor since DW li9kes to bee near water. Sounds like it is close to transportation as well. Maybe someone has stayed there? So much planning for a 3 day stay, hope this goes well
UKBayern Posted March 11, 2018 #6 Share Posted March 11, 2018 Like Dark Jedi says, as long as you are near a station, you can go anywhere easy and swiftly. We were warned before we went on our land trip to Japan how small hotel rooms are. "broom cupboard" is a better word than hotel room in Japan. Most hotel rooms have no wardrobes and no storage space for luggage. We were travelling light, but still had to pile our bags up behind the entrance doors. One had to sit on the bed for the other to get past. Also make sure you know how wide the bed is, and don't just book any double. A double bed can be anything, starting at 1.20 meter (47 inches).....
