Chip and signature cards

We will be in Norway in June. I have heard that they are pretty near a cashless society. Since most USA cards are chip and signature versus chip and pin I'm wondering if we will have any problems with kiosks. Has anyone used their card without a pin at ticket kiosks and had problems?

I encourage you to review information in Tripadvisor, Rick Steves website and other similar locations. The general theme from those who in are your situation is that you will not be able to use chip and signature when you are dealing with a self serve kiosk (ie no human contact) but will generally be ok if you are dealing with a store clerk etc. The best suggestion seems to be ... ask your bank for a chip and pin card before travelling. We were in Norway last year, but have chip and pin cards and therefore no issues. Enjoy your trip.

DW and DD recently spent a week and had no issues with their 'regular' credit cards (chip and sig)

and they gave 'em a workout!!!! They didn't carry a lot of cash and everything is $$$$ in Norway so the plastic got used a bunch!

They were in Oslo and Bergen (took the train) - and later Copen'
