wfgoode Posted March 9, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2018 Please help settle a family disagreement. Is the entrance to a cabin completely flat or is there a bump or ledge? I want to book a regular suite (not accessible) because of available choices. We are disagreeing on whether I’ll be able to get my wheelchair in by myself (already checked the width and it’s ok). The ship is the Zaandam if that helps. Flat carpeting or bump? Thanks for your help!
Tinknock50 Posted March 9, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 9, 2018 I don't recall any threshold bumps with regular cabins. The bathroom will have a step up, however.
Rare Crew News Posted March 9, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 9, 2018 Welcome to Cruise Critic and this HAL Forum. No bumps entering staterooms. Wheelchair can wheel inside the door but will not be able to go much further unless you have a suite stateroom.. There will be a step up into the bathroom and a step over to go to a balcony. Underwatr Posted March 9, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 9, 2018 The space at the foot of the bed (or the transition between the entrance hallway and the foot of the bed) may be narrower than the door. I.e., there's a jog to one side to get past the bed.
Krazy Kruizers Posted March 9, 2018 #5 Share Posted March 9, 2018 Unless you book a Neptune Suite, you are going to have a hard time getting around in the cabin. Even in the Neptune Suites, there will still be a step up into the bath room and a bump to get over to get onto the balcony.
wfgoode Posted March 9, 2018 Author #6 Share Posted March 9, 2018 Thank you so much. I sure forgot about a lot of other things. I’ll look at the accessible Vista suite.
sail7seas Posted March 9, 2018 #7 Share Posted March 9, 2018 At cabin entrance, Flat carpeting in hallway meets a tile like hard floor in the cabin with no bump where they join
