diane.in.ny Posted March 13, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 13, 2018 I have a friend who did this excursion a bunch of years ago and they never went to Grants Reserve which was, and still is, in the description. Was wondering if anyone has done this recently and if they got to do and see all as described by Princess? Thanks!
fishywood Posted March 13, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 13, 2018 No idea, nor any idea what "Puffing Billy" is until I googled it. I must say that a steam train was far more innocuous than what my imagination was coming up with
558 Posted March 13, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 13, 2018 Did it way back in 1991 while vacationing there! Do you come from a land downunder, where women glow and men plunder! Anyone remember those lines?
getting older slowly Posted March 14, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 14, 2018 Puffing Billy train is at Belgrave railway station, about 35 miles from Station pier (cruise ship berth )(1 to 1 1/2 hours travel ) about 3 - 5 hours return trip on train. Info can be found at puffingbilly.com.au If you are into steam train rides well worth it ... it is about 15mile of track Cheers Don
Haboob Posted March 14, 2018 #5 Share Posted March 14, 2018 The thing to remember about Puffing Billy is that he doesn't run on hot days: if the temperature that day turns the eucalyptus trees' oils into a fire hazard, you get a diesel engine instead. diane.in.ny Posted March 14, 2018 Author #10 Share Posted March 14, 2018 LOL Thanks for all these notes and, for some, a trip down memory lane. I did investigate doing this independently with public transportation but the timing doesn't work right for the time we are in port. So if going to do it, will have to be on an excursion. :(
