Builder31 Posted March 22, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 22, 2018 I bought several AARP e-gift cards for our upcoming cruise. Can I somehow put in the gift card numbers on my account online before I sail? I assume I can apply them via guest services once onboard but prefer to avoid that line if possible. firemanbobswife Posted March 22, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 22, 2018 You will have to purchase Cruise Cash. Get the general kind so it can be used for anything.
kona_wahine Posted March 22, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 22, 2018 I don't think there is a way. I had to go to GS last cruise, so unless something has changed, no.
Organized Chaos Posted March 22, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 22, 2018 The cards can be used to pay down your balance, purchase excursions, buy internet, Cheers, just about everything, except they can’t be added to your S&S account online. Unless you do as firemanbobswife suggested and use them to buy Cruise Cash. Just remember, Cruise Cash is only good for that cruise and is non-refundable. Otherwise you’ll have to wait till you get on board.
n6uqqq Posted March 22, 2018 #5 Share Posted March 22, 2018 Still waiting for Carnival to come into this century and allow gift cards to be added on their website when setting up onboard accounts. That would make it easier for us and guest services.
wemjam Posted March 22, 2018 #6 Share Posted March 22, 2018 Keep in mind you do not have to go to guest services to apply, it can be done at the kiosks on board too.
Builder31 Posted March 22, 2018 Author #7 Share Posted March 22, 2018 Ok thx. I will spend more on this cruise than I have in cards. So if I buy general cruise cash now it will just get applied to my S&S account onboard? So essentially it will do what I want right? Sent from my iPhone using Forums Correct, if you aren't worried about there being unused funds left over then cruise case will do what you want and get it on your account before you board (using gift cards now). jdoc2007 Posted March 22, 2018 #10 Share Posted March 22, 2018 Yes, you can buy Cruise Cash pre-cruise with the Carnival Gift Cards. The cruise cash will be automatically added to your Sail & Sign Account to use throughout the duration of the cruise and can be used on ANYTHING that you swipe your S&S card for (drinks, photos, gift shop, bars, casino, and gratuities). Or you can take the gift card to Guest Services (or kiosks) and it can be added to the account once onboard. Keep in mind - Cruise Cash is non refundable. firemanbobswife Posted March 22, 2018 #11 Share Posted March 22, 2018 The procedure is the same for cashing out unused Cruise Cash as it is if you put GCs on your account so keep that in mind. It’s really only use it or lose it if you don’t spend it all. Go play some in the casino and cash out. There are plenty of threads on that if you’re not familiar. mollygirl Posted March 22, 2018 #12 Share Posted March 22, 2018 Can I use an AARP gift card to reserve and pay for an excursion before the cruise begins?? If so, would I just enter the gift card number on line to pay, or would I have to call Carnival? Or would I have to wait until I get on the ship to reserve and then use the gift card? Thanks. We booked our excursion online and used gift card, there's place to enter gift card info (multiple cards can be used as well). You can pay for an excursion on-line using Carnival gift cards. The choice pops up on the screen, if I remember correctly, just before the credit card choice. If you buy anything in advance, like Cheers, you can use your gift card on line from the comfort of your couch
