toledo Posted April 9, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 9, 2018 I'm trying to book a train between Anchorage and Denali. Both of these options came up. Are they the same rail cars?
rkacruiser Posted April 9, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 9, 2018 Probably. Gray Line is a part of the HAL Alaska Tour operation. If possible, find a photo of the rail cars used by Gray Line as well as those on the McKinley Explorer. That will tell you if they are the same. ShipWalker Posted April 9, 2018 #3 Share Posted April 9, 2018 I didn't realize HAL had their own railcars. Nice! https://www.graylinealaska.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/McKinley-Train-Crew.jpg
Cruise_More_Often Posted April 9, 2018 #4 Share Posted April 9, 2018 Gray Line, and any other travel agent, can sell Alaska Railroad tickets, so that's probably what you found, toledo. There is only one train provider--Alaska Railroad. Alaska Railroad attaches HAL, Princess and RCI cars to its trains for travel in Alaska.
rkacruiser Posted April 9, 2018 #5 Share Posted April 9, 2018 Princess Cruises also have their own rail cars as does Royal Caribbean/Celebrity. Alaska Railroad also have their own rail cars as well.
toledo Posted April 9, 2018 Author #6 Share Posted April 9, 2018 Thanks, everyone. I'm actually cruising with Princess, but I don't care for their cruise tours. Plus I heard some seats are backwards and all seats in the HAL cars face forward.
Taters Posted April 9, 2018 #7 Share Posted April 9, 2018 And if you want to get the least expensive tickets on the train, you can book directly with the Alaska Railroad, as they have their own cars on the train, too! :D:D:D
