Plumbjim Posted April 9, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 9, 2018 We are cruising on the Ruby Princess in June going to Alaska. Our plane arrives at 10:15 and considering getting bags and traveling to pier, I'm thinking we'd arrive at 11-11:15. Does Princess stick to the 1 pm embarkation or do they start boarding early? And is there anything in walking distance of pier to see if we don't want to sit? This is our first Princess and Alaska cruise, can't wait to go. Thanks in advance for any help!! earlydiner Posted April 9, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 9, 2018 Your timing should be perfect. Go right to the pier, check in, and you should be on the ship around noon. Good way to beat the rush. Have a great cruise.
NeurosurgeryNP Posted April 9, 2018 #3 Share Posted April 9, 2018 We are doing this cruise in 2 weeks with my DH, and I was blessed to do it last May with my mom (who passed away the day after Christmas) and sister. Boarding started at about noon so perfect timing. Sent from my SM-G965U using Forums mobile app
paul929207 Posted April 9, 2018 #4 Share Posted April 9, 2018 The 1pm time is a suggestion, not a mandate

wheezedr Posted April 9, 2018 #6 Share Posted April 9, 2018 They should be boarding by noon and given the normal flow of Seattle traffic I doubt you will be at the pier before 11:30, so your timing is perfect.

Seems as if your last question was never answered. Unfortunately, no, the pier itself (Pier 91) is about 3.25 miles from downtown Seattle and although there are a couple of places where you can buy wine or food within 3/4 of a mile or so of the pier, there are no areas for sighseeing or shopping nearby. But, as the others have said your arrival time is good for getting on the ship with no problems, although it may, or may not, be long lines to check in. Just depends on how your luck is running. :D Tom
