I don't think they will do it as it takes over 3 hours by car.
Rare little britain Posted April 15, 2018 #3 Share Posted April 15, 2018 Gijon is a lovely town, you dock in the middle of a field and you HAVE to take their shuttle to get out of the port area -town is about 7 miles away. Lovely little streets and a good long beach. I would say to get to Santiago would take far too long, over 3hrs each way. The trips to Santiago usually go from Vigo or A Coruna. Pic of Ovation in Gijon so you can see what I mean by a field lol!

We spent a nice morning walking around and then had a very leisurely lunch. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Southwick28 Posted April 15, 2018 #5 Share Posted April 15, 2018 The capital of the region is called Oviedo. Only 1/2 an hour from Gijon and is full of pre romantic history.

I agree about Orviedo. I walked to the bus station in Gijon and caught a bus there - beautiful place. About 30mins, bus had free wifi, lovely scenery. Charming town, pretty buildings, good market. papaflamingo Posted April 15, 2018 #7 Share Posted April 15, 2018 We were in Gijon in 2012. We walked around town and really enjoyed it. Then we stopped at a cafe and had the local cider that they are known for. It’s an “acquired taste” but after one or two, not bad. The bottle was only around 3 Euros so very cheap. The dispenser that was on it was hilarious. Worth trying just to say you did. [emoji41] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
