They actually got rid of them being free years ago. Think as long as 2010. One thing we can't blame on the new admin.

 

Tapas were free in 2014 in Las Ramblas when we sailed her on a Northbound Alaska

NCL has updated the website to reflect the changes to the Sun. Los Lobos is a la carte.

I'm aboard the Sun right now but don't have good access to upload from my sandisc card. Any particular questions about the renovations? There has been no construction that I've noticed but I don't think they completed everything they planned on completing. I am guessing they stopped short because of the media attention they got from the pre-drydock cruise. For example, our interior stateroom has nothing changed (same carpet etc). The photo area looks brand new along with Los Lobos but a lot of the interior of the ship looks the same.

Any further info on the updates having been completed or not? Very curious since NCL's refurbishment list did seem very optimistic.

 

We'll be sailing on May 7th to Cuba. Hope you are enjoying your cruise!

I don't have the list in front of me, but from what I can remember, about 80-90% was accomplished during dry dock. I haven't seen any construction during our cruise. The Bliss lounge looks was renovated and the blue coating on decks 11 and 12 are gone and recoated with a tan/brown color which I forgot to mention above. The observation lounge is now named "spinnaker lounge" but the doors still say "observation lounge" and not much changed. Teppanyaki has been expanded with another table and looks nicer than the old pictures. I hadn't sailed on the Sun prior to this trip so it's hard for me to compare. However, nothing seems to have changed with the staterooms or the atrium areas. I'm taking some videos that I'll be happy to share after the cruise.

 

On a side note, we've enjoyed the specialty dining package we purchased and found it to be a great value. I'd recommend Le Bistro and Cagney's. The new Los Lobos was also great (a close third to the other two). It's a great ship and I'm sure you'll have a blast.

I just went and checked, right now they have:

Roulette ($1 per chip, 5 chip minimum)

Ultimate Texas Hold 'Em ($5 minimum)

PAI Gow Poker ($25 minimum)

Baccarat ($25 minimum)

Three Card Poker (didn't catch the minimum)

Blackjack (several $10 and $15 minimum tables)

Thank you! Hopefully we can get a seat at the hold em' table or we'll spend a lot of time at the slots! Can't hardly play 3 card anymore without the Bonus. :(

Hey Vegasvic88....Ncl Breakaway and dawn have 3 card poker with the bonus. I am sure the sun will have it also as the casino tables were changed during 2018 refurb....now if they would do the pai gow poker with bonus, I'd be happy!!!!

Well, they have when I view the Norwegian Sun on the NCL site. When I go into Whats on Board section for the Sun and click on the dining, speciality dining or bars, and lounges, the photos have been updated for those I listed. In the Norwegian Sun Gallery, the photo of the casino has been updated. The chairs in the casino were red, now they are white which matches a photo I saw on Twitter taken during the return Panama Canal cruise after the refurb. Also, the photo of the balcony cabin shows the new blue color motif with new artwork, new bed covers and pillows.
