Oceana

We cruised on her late last year and had a table for two every night. We dine around 8.30pm and sometimes got a table immediately. Even with a pager we only waited 10 minutes or so in the atrium. Hard to tell what time people want to dine on any given cruise and how many will want a table for two but we certainly didn't find it an issue.

Hi can someone please tell me if tables for 2 on Oceana are easily available on freedom dining. Or do you always need to wait.

The impression I get is that there is more chance later in the evening. If you went in at 19.00 you may have to wait.

Thank you. Are the tables very close together.

I'm struggling to remember here. We always have tables for two on freedom-type dining on any ship and I can remember distinctly that on Celebrity Eclipse for example they were very close together in a row so it sticks in my mind. That said, we will still be having such tables on our next Eclipse cruise.

On Oceana I don't have any such memories and having just consulted my wife we agreed that we had no issue with the proximity of other tables. I think you'll be ok.

Have a great cruise.

Hi, have just got back from Oceana and we have sailed on her Freedom Dining a number of times.

There is obviously more choice earlier in the evening. We tend to go down at 7.30pm and always have to wait about 20 - 30 minutes (which suits us as we have a cocktail first).

The tables aren't generally too close together - much better than on American cruise lines and Ventura.

If you want a really good area where the tables are spaced out, by windows and with excellent service ask for the area by table 97 ;-)

We found a big difference in waiting times for a table for two in Freedom dining on Oceana between late September/October 2016 and late September 2014.

On the earlier cruise we were always given a table for two within 10 minutes or so maximum, if we felt we didn’t to share a table that night. We usually arrived at the dining room between 8 & 8.30.

Last year getting a table for two was far more problematic and involved long waits. We waited over an hour one evening. This spoiled our whole night on an evening when we were very tired after a busy day ashore and did not feel like socialising with new table companions.

After this experience we dined in our cabin as we didn’t feel we wanted to risk this happening again.

We have never had a problem getting tables for two on Oceana. We didn't find the tables too close together (my pet hate). Once, our pager went off before our cocktails had been served. Felt a bit odd walking into dinner with a large cocktail in hand, and then ordering a bottle of wine for dinner (hic!). Another time, there were no tables for two available so they immediately cleared two place settings from a table laid for four. Excellent service. We love the vibe on Oceana.

We've just come back from a week on Oceana. At 6pm when the restaurant opens, there are couples queuing for tables, and by about 6.15 you are too late and would be faced with at least an hour wait. Once, we got there about 7pm and would have been 8th in the queue for people with pagers, so we opted for a shared table instead. I suspect it gets easier as the evening progresses, but if you want to see both the shows in an evening you need to eat early. We did meet some very nice people on shared tables, so it's worth giving it a try.

BTW, we had a fantastic week!
