Stung by something while in the shallows in Dolphinaris. What could it have been?

I was at Dolphinaris Cozumel last week in the little closed off snorkeling lagoon when something stung my toe. It hurt bad for hours and swelled up. I pulled a little white stinger out of it. All I saw were stingrays, baby and large ones, and a little snake like thing that looked like a tentacle. Anyone have any ideas on what it could have been? Vinegar didn't help it, it took 4 ibuprofen to get a break from the pain. It was gone the next day.

I kept looking up what the snake like thing was and I believe it was a bearded fire worm.

Fire worms are nasty, just slightly brushing against one can cause the little hairs to embed in your toe. Hope you are doing better now.

I'm fine, thanks. It hurt for the rest of the day though. I think that Dolphinaris should keep vinegar right by the snorkel area just in case.
