NoName Posted May 5, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 5, 2018 We haven't sailed Carnival since March 2016, what is different? I think I read somewhere that platinum no longer gets early access to staterooms? Is this true? I also read that we will no longer get TV channels in our cabin? What else has changed? Kim
Lottacruises Posted May 5, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 5, 2018 Nothing really, it's so much fun to notice any minute changes that may have been made.
seannyice81 Posted May 5, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 5, 2018 That Platinum rumor is false. Went right to my cabin on my last cruise a couple weeks ago. Channel line-up has changed a little according to some, but I don't watch much TV so I can't say for sure. Some other changes per social media posts.. -Room service now has a small fee after 10pm -No room service breakfast on debarkation day -Health questionnaire is now digital in some ports. -Carnival Dream now has Waterworks cabins on Deck 9 (J/K). firefly333 Posted May 6, 2018 #5 Share Posted May 6, 2018 My cabin steward said now they only service your cabin once a day, but someone here on the last what has changed thread said its not a change since you can ask for twice a day. To me if I have to ask for extra service, that cabin steward is expecting a bigger tip than the usual. The pizza was different, and ceasar salad was back at the pizza stand :) They have a BBQ now that is really delicious. If its on your ship be sure and find it. Its where the old fish and chips used to be on conquest class, one deck up from the buffet. Now fish is extra. sushi is also extra cost.

Bill To me tip has always been based on 2x service. Cut service in half and tip come down as well. Not my fault cruise line has assigned steward more cabins

Blackjack22 Posted July 1, 2018 #9 Share Posted July 1, 2018 No ESPN or real news available in the staterooms. No more taste bar. No more free room service at night.
proudpatriot07 Posted July 1, 2018 #10 Share Posted July 1, 2018 You can now have your room serviced once or twice a day. Previously, it was always twice a day. I understand why they ask because I think some people would rather have just morning or evening, as sometimes the cabin steward might wake someone up from sleeping in or an afternoon nap. On our last trip, we didn't meet our steward until Day 3. Our room was serviced 2x a day, we weren't actually asked. Room service costs after 10 PM, some items cost during the day too. Some things are still free. The Taste bar is gone as well as the sushi bar (not sure when this went away because we skipped cruising for a few years to buy a home and take a land vacation, sometime between 2012 and 2017 though). Taste bar and sushi were small though, and to me no big deal. I noticed that the crew members seem a bit more overworked in the last couple of years. The stewards have more rooms, wait staff has more tables, etc. The service is still amazing, and they don't let it get to them (or at least, they don't show it around the guests). You'll still have an awesome time on your cruise! Sure, a few things have changed, but I'd rather lose a couple of small things to cut costs than pay more money for the cruise. It's still a great bang for your vacation buck.
Blackjack22 Posted July 2, 2018 #11 Share Posted July 2, 2018 Yeah it's all how you want to look at it. I'd rather pay an extra sum and keep amenities but others want to get on the ship for as cheaply as possible which I understand and would subscribe to in some ways without our fabulous casino discounts.
