nmyorkiemom Posted May 13, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 13, 2018 trying to get some current info on what CAD exchange rates are at the port Cadeca. I’ve gotten some conflicting numbers. Thank you!
soccersharon Posted May 13, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 13, 2018 I'd be interested in hearing current rates as well! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
nmyorkiemom Posted May 13, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted May 13, 2018 I’ve heard that you get .78 CUC for 1 CAD. But US gets .87. However, I get more CAD per USD which I guess is what, in theory, makes it a bit better to exchange to CAD. I’m not a money nor math person......so confusing! pbenjamin Posted May 13, 2018 #4 Share Posted May 13, 2018 The exchange rate for CAD will be whatever the going exchange rate between CAD and USD is, less a 3% commission.
Balcony93 Posted May 14, 2018 #5 Share Posted May 14, 2018 We just returned from Havana last week and received 150 CUC for 200 CAD, so .78 and a 3% fee.

So you actually got less than if you had exchanged USD directly? $200 USD - 13% = $174, but $200 CAD(@.78) - 3% = 151 WOW!!!! Everyone always says that you come out a bit ahead with the CAD. Gotta decide what to do.

If you were to exchange your $200 USD for CAD you would have somewhere around $250 (guessing), so comparing $200 USD to $200 CAD is pointless. ICT lineman Posted May 30, 2018 #9 Share Posted May 30, 2018 Prior to our cruise, at a USA Bank, I purchased CAD and exchanged them for CUC at the Havana Cruise Terminal on May 9th. $417.57 USD => $500 CAD => 380.20 CUC I later exchanged USD to CUC at the Cienfuegos Cruise Terminal on May 15th. $100.00 USD => 86.85 CUC At the conclusion of the Cuba segment of the cruise, I exchanged CUC to USD at the Santiago de Cuba Cruise Terminal on May 16th. 33.90 CUC => $31.00 USD As I understand the exchange 'system', had I initially exchanged USD to CUC in Havana the result would have been $417.57 => 363.28 CUC
