Rare cruisestitch Posted May 28, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 28, 2018 Because this gets asked so often I've compiled a list of things to spend OBC on. Otherwise, here you go: Acupuncture Airport transfers Alcove Rental (some ships) Apple products etc. and Ilounge classes Art Auctions Barber Shop services (Edge only) Beverages -- Alcoholic, carbonated soft drinks, specialty coffees and teas, bottled water Bingo Bottles of wine Casino Duty free liquor and cigarettes Extra cost entrees and other items in Main Dining Room and specialty restaurants Fitness classes Flowers Gelato Gift shop Gratuities, and extra gratuities Guests dining with you in Luminae (applies to Suite Passengers only) Guest entertainers' CD's and DVD's Hair and nail salon Hollywood hot glass experiences (some ships) Internet Laundry/pressing/drycleaning Luggage Valet Martini Flights Medical Center Mini bar Shore Excursions Pay-per-view movies Photos & cameras Room service up charge items, and late night delivery fee Shore Excursions Shuttle to town (some ports) Spa -- massages and treatments Specialty restaurants Teeth Whitening Telephone calls using ship's system Transfer to another passenger's account Voyage in Review DVD Wine and liquor tastings Zumba

Lisah101 Posted May 28, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 28, 2018 There is more to spend your OBC on in the Apple lounge than just apple products. They have screen savers for phones, iPads, bluetooth speakers and headphones, SD Card readers for your iPad, etc. I NEVER have trouble spending money in there! leaveitallbehind Posted May 28, 2018 #5 Share Posted May 28, 2018 Or....anything and everything (with the noted exception) that is charged to your stateroom on board account will be offset by your OBC. :) And it is credited to your account to all charges without discretion, meaning it is not applied for select purchases. Rare cruisestitch Posted May 28, 2018 Author #6 Share Posted May 28, 2018 that is exactly correct. I started the list in order to answer a comment that comes up frequently, something like "I already have a beverage package and I don't do internet or shore excursions and I don't know what I could spend my OBC on". Sometimes people aren't aware of all the options.

I get it - just was adding my typical response to cover all the bases you listed! :) Seems like a simple enough concept, but there always are questions regarding what is or isn't covered. Alakegirl Posted May 28, 2018 #9 Share Posted May 28, 2018 Additionally, for thise coming from other lines, there are differences worth noting. Some don’t allow the use of on-board credit for gratuities and some also won’t let you use it in their casino
jkgourmet Posted May 28, 2018 #10 Share Posted May 28, 2018 Or, if it's REFUNDABLE <on board credit, just let them apply it as a credit to your credit card.

varoo Posted May 29, 2018 #12 Share Posted May 29, 2018 Or....anything and everything (with the noted exception) that is charged to your stateroom on board account will be offset by your OBC. :) And it is credited to your account to all charges without discretion, meaning it is not applied for select purchases. Exactly! Thanks for posting a clear and accurate explanation of how OBC really works. The title of this thread may be confusing because technically passengers don't get to select where or how their OBC is spent. They just get to select what they buy. It is like making a deposit to your bank account, where you do not specify that the money is to be used to pay for your haircut, or rent, or your new iPad, or wine, or spa treatment, or anything else. The cruise line likes to promote OBC by advertising that you can use your OBC to pay for this or that. But any itemized list provided will never be complete or totally accurate because the inventory of items that can be charged to your onboard account is constantly changing, even from one cruise to the next. In any case, there really is no need for such a list as OBC can be used to pay for anything that gets charged to your onboard account, regardless of whether or not it appears on a list. I do think the OP's list can be quite handy for new cruisers though as a way to familiarize themselves with the variety of offerings available for purchase on a cruise. But that is true regardless of whether or not they have any OBC. Even experienced cruisers may find something on the list they were not aware is offered. jkgourmet Posted May 29, 2018 #13 Share Posted May 29, 2018 Note you CANNOT use OBC to play in Texas Hold 'em tournaments in the casino. CASH ONLY.
