tx121 Posted May 30, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 30, 2018 So we are looking at the 10 night Canary Islands,Spain and Morocco cruise on the Spirit In February. The price is very good and the airfare is not bad for that time. Most ships are not in Europe during this time. Is there a reason why the cruise is so cheap in February? bad weather, sightseeing places closed, etc? Also we know the Spirit is an older ship. The smallest NCL ship we have been on is the Sun. I’m thinking they are similar. Another factor is that we live in the northeast where the weather in February can be a bit snowy. Will definitely be getting travel insurance if we decide to go. If anyone has any information on this itinerary in Jan/Feb and has been on the Spirit, it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Rare KeithJenner Posted May 30, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 30, 2018 Ive not been on this itinerary in Feb, but have done it at Easter a couple of times. The Spirit is has historically been very cheap. That seems to be changing for the Northern Europe cruises next Summer, but many of the cruises we have done on the Spirit have been unbelievably cheap. It isn’t particularly to do with the itinerary or time (although the date may make it slightly cheaper), it is just that this is a cheap cruise. As for sailing that itinerary in February, the weather will be hard to predict. There were some issues this year with ports being missed (and one very significantly changed itinerary) due to weather, but it could just as easily be very nice. It won’t be hot, but at that time of year it can be quite pleasant in the Canaries and Spain. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
cruiser man 60 Posted May 30, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 30, 2018 We went on this cruise in Mid January this year and had fantastic weather in all ports with very sunny and temperatures of c24c in most ports. However it can unpredictable as Barcelona had snow in late March also this year! As to the ship we were very happy with the ship and facilities and if you avoid school holidays it is nearly 100% adults
Lydia B. Posted May 30, 2018 #4 Share Posted May 30, 2018 The Spirit May be a bit older but one of my favorite ships. We did this itinerary and loved it. However I didn’t realize how arid and sandy the Canaries were. Think Hawaii before any vegetation. They make wonderful Moscato there. Our only regret was that both times we went past the Rocks of Gilbralter it was dark. You will love Barcelona very friendly and easy to navigate. The Hop On Hop On afforded us a way to see a lot. Enjoy.
cruise06355 Posted May 30, 2018 #5 Share Posted May 30, 2018 We did this exact itinerary in Feb this year. Cool weather but beautiful! 50-65 degrees throughout the trip!
