Delboy1 Posted July 2, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 2, 2018 Did 1st July 2018 sailing have a better passage through the Bay than previous cruises ?
jh1809 Posted July 2, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 2, 2018 I would have expected it to be pretty smooth. As is common at this time of year, the charts show a very slack pressure gradient over the region, with no deep depressions anywhere in sight. daiB Posted July 2, 2018 #3 Share Posted July 2, 2018 I have crossed the area of sea which people think of as the Bay but actually isn’t many times 50+ at all times of year and you can get flat calm in all months and choppy in all months. Our best was on Dec 28th about 6/7 years ago on our way to the Canaries. Worst was in Oct 2002 on the old Arcadia. Rare P&O SUE Posted July 2, 2018 #4 Share Posted July 2, 2018 I went on the June 8th Ventura cruise and it was very smooth
jeanlyon Posted July 2, 2018 #5 Share Posted July 2, 2018 Agree with Dai, have crossed the Bay many times, both in a small sailing boat and in a cruise ship. Have had smooth passages in autumn and winter and a couple of rough passages in the summer, so you just cannot tell.
