Favorite beaches

looking for excursions in St.Thomas and Tortuga and nothing except beach excursions. We have always done Western Caribbean and i know all beaches are not created equal.

Looking at recommendations of best beach in these two ports.

That peaked my interest when i read about it. Being listed as one of 10 most beautiful beaches. Is it best to do ship excursions?

We grabbed a taxi to Magen's Bay. No need to book $$$ excursion.

We usually take the water taxi to St John and go snorkeling at Cinnamon bay. Absolutely my favorite beach in the world. Then we grab lunch at Cruz bay, take the ferry back and board the ship Have always done on our own. We get up early to be off ship and to ferry early :)

Jost Van Dyke out of Tortola is our favorite beach.....but ship excursions here sell out quickly! We just booked a cruise for October and this excursion is already gone.....looking in to a private charter.

I second Magen's Bay in St. Thomas. I think the shuttle is $7 for round trip and another $4-5 for the beach per person, but you can do it on your own and save some money. I'm sure shore excursion will be much more than the $12 per person to go here. They do have a bar area and a gift shop so you can get drinks, food and souveniers as well. I think you can rent equipment but we haven't done that before so not sure.
