HightowerMom Posted July 18, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 18, 2018 We are flying in to Ft. Lauderdale the morning before our cruise. That leaves our family with three teenagers a full afternoon and evening to explore. Since our cruise stops are mostly beaches, we are looking for something to do other than a beach in Ft. Lauderdale. We will have a rental car available. Thanks for any ideas!
JohninDC Posted July 18, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 18, 2018 http://www.sunny.org has lots of FLL area tourist info. The water taxi is usually a fun option for touring, etc.
momof3cruisers Posted July 23, 2018 #3 Share Posted July 23, 2018 Their science museum is really cool.
BNBR Posted July 24, 2018 #4 Share Posted July 24, 2018 Sorry, but I am local with a couple of kids and we think the science museum is pretty lousy. Half the stuff isn't even functioning. With a rental car, you can do anything you want. Maybe consider Flamingo Gardens and Sawgrass Recreation if you haven't done any wildlife stuff. Water taxi is always a hit. And you can easily jump on the highway and visit Miami - Wynwood, Brickell, South Beach, etc. Plus the Hollywood Beach broadwalk is great to wander around, rent bikes and what not. In the evening, a restaurant like Rustic Inn might be up your alley.

BNBR Posted July 24, 2018 #8 Share Posted July 24, 2018 LOL our teens simply wanted to SHOP... Sounds like most of our visitors. We drop them off at the Sawgrass mall and pick them up a week later.
HightowerMom Posted July 25, 2018 Author #9 Share Posted July 25, 2018 Thanks! We will be there in August. Current thinking is either Flamingo Gardens or the Jungle Queen afternoon cruise. Perhaps a casual meal at either Gilberts or Laspadas and dessert at Jaxson's will keep the crew happy and full.

Flamingo Gardens is down the street from Sawgrass as well if that means anything to you. Jaxsons is always a great idea! Remember they have non dessert items too.
